I'm sorry, this is a vent, I'm just so tired of being poked and prodded and being in pain. There seem to be a few of us who are having ongoing medical issues, so maybe I don't deserve to vent but aaarrrggghhh. I mean isn't PTSD enough.

I've just returned from the hospital after having an internal pelvic ultrasound. Now I have to wait 2 weeks for the results to be sent to my GP.

Last week it was dental surgery, I'm still taking painkillers and antibiotics for that. The surgeon had to manipulate the sinus bone, hence needing the antibiotics. The sutures will be removed tomorrow.

If one more professional tells me I'm doing really well, I will not be responsible for my actions.

Just so tired now.

Sounds patronising and condescending doesn't it, when you don't FEEL it?

I am sorry you have been through so much. Hopefully this is just getting it all over with, and nothing more will be necessary. I recall having an internal ultrasound many years ago. Not pleasant and an absolute shock, as it was not planned - just a last minute decision by the sonographer. However for me, it was worth it. Confirmed the problem, which was quickly sorted.

Please continue to vent. It always helps to do so, especially when you cannot swear at the professionals as you might wish.

Be extra good to yourself tonight and for a few more days KP. Tough as all this is, you will be glad you did it in a few months time.

Sorry you are having medical issues KP. Of course much is necessary but so much hinges on the staff at the medical facilities. I wish everyone, from the registration staff all the up to the Physicians would just remember to treat patients and talk to patients as they would want others to talk to their mothers (OK maybe not all the mothers of members here, he, he) but you get the idea.

Getting results is another sore spot for me. Here in my area of the States anyway, it is only a matter of a day or 2 for imaging studies to be read, most labs to come back, and they are automatically faxed to Physicians. Of course, some results need conveyed face to face. I waited 6 weeks for pathology results after surgery for prostate cancer only to find out the Doctor had the results after 10 days. Needless worry and wait when you don't get the word right away.

Wait? How did I get up on this box again? (ISH sheepishly steps down from the soap box)

:)

Sorry you're having to deal with the medical world! Along with not feeling well, it's more than annoying. I hope your tests show something treatable if you are dealing with chronic pain.

I was in the profession for 25 years, and it was more personal back then. Now, it's such a mess, they can blame everything on the computer, or 'whoever' didn't send/get reports of tests!! And, it seems everywhere, they are at least one person short of a good staff and voicemails pile up faster than you can get a patient into the room!

Don't even get me started on the accuracy of tests! Or the right records being in the right place! A couple years ago, I had an abdominal CT Scan, and as I like to read my reports, I got a copy. As I read along, imagine my surprise when I saw that my PROSTATE and seminal vessels were NORMAL! Um, I thought it was funny until I realized that it might not be my scan! I am a WOMAN! I did ask my parents if there was something they didn't tell me about my birth. I had a lot of fun talking to the head of the radiology when I ask him to explain.

Take good care of yourself & have a good day!

LOL, I was aghast to find a diagnosis on my health insurance site of "rectal tear". Didn't want to have to explain how I would have gotten that!

What I SAID when asked about medical history was that I had a history of a tear in my retina! Other end of the body!!

But I suppose one could affect the other if I had my head up my ass! ROFL

I am sorry for your misfortune KP. Dare I say I received the "unofficial results" from my internal ultrasound from the Doctor on the day and the results were sent to my specialists and GP within a day or two. Sometimes I think it is the medical system - others the Doctor.

As I am going through a similar process I hear your frustration; it's taken 4 years of illness and for me to get relatively ill from the same symptoms for someone not just to hand me another bottle of antibiotics and to actually listen to me and investigate. For heavens sake; I have been the one living in this body for 30 ++ years so I know when something is not right. Now it's pain and wheels and roundabouts but at least this time with top professionals as the other's dismissed me with drugs! Finally they are finding what I have told them all along.

I see my surgeon tomorrow for the results of my investigative op. I've been told by my GP there's nothing malignant so hopefully I wont need further surgery. Fingers crossed but if I do, it must be for good reason.

Its been 2 weeks, I'm still a bit uncomfortable, with pains here and there, sore and bruised but definitely improving.

Hanging in there with hubby being very patient!
