Help!!! Our newest feline came with an almost intolerable smell! It fills the house and lingers long after we have scooped his mess! We've had him dewormed. I've tried different foods, and we clean the cat box AT LEAST twice a day. We use feline pine litter. He can't be bothered to bury his poo.

Is there a magic solution?

Covered catbox? The kind with a little door and charcoal filter? We use "World's best cat litter - multi cat" - expensive but worth it because it lasts way longer than other kinds of litter. Also there are some foods made for "indoor cats" that seem to reduce odor. Also you might try the super-premium cat foods that don't have much grain in them, sometimes that helps. If he's not burying his poop he is likely trying to establish his place in the pecking order of your house. Hopefully that will go away once everyone's clear where they stand! (On the other hand I once had a cat who always seemed to "miss" the catbox when he pooped. My brother said he was retarded. :-))

I like the toilet use idea - I never trained my cats, but know people who have.

Our new kitty cat when we got her, had a super stinky odor just like you are describing. We wound up taking her to the vet and she had a parasite called giardia. She took some pills and all was right in the world again! It IS transferable to people, btw!
