You Know You Have PTSD When...

You know you have PTSD when you end up getting flashbacks in every single one of your classes, and your friends and teachers are worried that something will "set you off."
When you remember more and more, which is supposed to be a *good* thing, but you don't want to.
When the old flashbacks STILL make you cry even though you now also have new ones on top of it.
When you call out "Mommy." and she says "Yes?" and you can't bring yourself to tell her that the only reason you said "Mommy," was because you needed a bit of help grounding, VIA Mommy's Voice, but you're too embarrassed to admit it.
When you remember more and more, which is supposed to be a *good* thing, but you don't want to.

When you are constantly saying " Do you hear that?" and your spouse instead of listening automatically responds "no you are just hearing things again"
When you're too embarrassed to even ASK people if they hear or see that, because they obviously don't, or else they would've said something and got you out of that place.
When it's completely preposterous to think that even for a moment, you might be happy, and NOT always filled with guilt, and shame, and overall sadness, loneliness, and futility.
You hear voices from 5 years ago more vividly than your brother's (who you've lived with your whole life.)
It shocks you to realize that your brother who is 5 years younger than you is now a TEENAGER with a voice that's changed, and not a 7 year old anymore, and you're left wondering "How the hell did he get to be the same age as me?" Every. Single. Day.

When your husband has to not only mute but sometimes pause the tv if you want to say something, because while there's sound or moving pictures there you cannot even formulate a single thought.
Don't say that sweetie we all love you in here.
