I don't celebrate Christmas but my family does. And I did a lot of thinking this year to get them things that meant a lot and were helpful in hard times. I am just excited and wish I could see my mother's face when she opens her gift!

I got my mother a Texas bluebonnet flowers pendent for Christmas. ( I wish I could post the picture, it says its to long.)

She's not much for jewellery but I wanted to get her something just for her. And becasue I love her. She's loves these beautiful flowers, they only bloom in the spring and its actually illegal to pick them unless they are on your own property.

I got my brother a book on native american legends. He loves books. Beowulf, Celtic, homer, harry potter. Fantasy of any kind. And he's only 9 years old.

Got my stepfather a Costco gift card. He doesn't like present. Because of his attitude about it people have either stopped giving him gift's or only give him socks. I think he secretly doesn't like this. He loves costco ( its a wholesale store) so maybe he'll like this...I can hope.

What did you get your family?

Recycled gifts; no money. Hard to do with granddchildren. But working on making it feel as special as i can. I am a horder of sorts, so I have lots to recycle! Also left over paper, ribbon and bags from years past!

So far: Necklace and bracelet of my mom's (not sentimental for me) for son's fiance; matching necklaces for granddaughters (still looking for more???) a ring for my daughter that looks like one she loved and lost ($6, only thing I bought). Perhaps old photography books for my son, who has new interest in photography. Grandson, 2 yrs old...hard one, but I have teddy bear, who needs big bow around neck. He also loves balls and anything with wheels, so I will look around for that today.

No gifts for parents. Phone call, as they are far away. Can't afford shipping or even stamps right now, much less gifts. Wish I could. I love Cosco gift card idea; if I had money, I would buy my dad a Walmart gift card, as that is more than he could ever wish for!!!! Even tho he is an old scrooge!

We were tight this year and bought only for our children. I kept all catalogs out of sight, so they couldn't be so influenced by the advertising, but would ask for things they had really thought about. My 7 year old asked for an art kit which sold for two dollars at a local craft store. I bought her this, and several more art supplies, as well as a Barbie.

My little boy wanted a lego set, and I also got him walkie talkies. My older daughter asked for an I-pod, and my son a 3DS. That's all they are getting, as those didn't come so cheaply. But I think they will love everything.

Got all my recycled gifts together tonight. Grandkids will get expensive stuff from others; I put together what I already had for them. I think they will like it, as they are stuff they would ask for from time to time. I would say, uh, no not today. So hopefully, they will still want them!

Pictures of my grown children when they were in their teens that I printed in the darkroom back when, for their gifts. Found some bright cars I salvaged from my daughter's give away pile to give to my grandson. Helps at Christmas to horde, but New Year's resolution is to pare down and simplfy. Too much stuff! A start...feels good and glad I have it to give.

In order to save $$ our family drew names this year and then we are each adding something to the stockings...

I drew my Mother in Law (Laura): since she just became a first time Grandmother I got her a new baby girl scrapbook and some paper/stickers to go with it. I also donated an outfit and two toys to a foster child in her name (because not all babies are as lucky as our Addie Grace).

Brent drew his Sister in Law (Sandy - mom to Addie Grace) and we got her a 1hr massage (pretty stoked about this because I managed to get it for less then half price).

As stocking stuffers we got:

Andrew (Brent's twin brother and dad to Addie Grace) - Dick's Drive In gift certificates (in the Seattle area Dick's is THE burger joint of choice) and a Game Stop gift card

Sandy - baby proofing stuff and a Macy's gift card

Scott (Brent's dad) - waterproof uno cards (he is an uno fanatic and creator of our family's annual "unopalooza" event) and a Cabelas gift card.

Laura - a new nutcracker, scrapbooking stickers, a new ornament and I still have to pick up something else but I am not sure what.

The baby doesn't need much (she is more than a bit spoiled as it is) so we got her some snuggly new jammies and a little people manger set. For her stocking we got her some boogie wipes, pacifier wipes, spoons (that tell hot/cold) a couple small toys and a baby's first christmas ornament (we have a matching one on our tree).

@Ayesha: I think you did a fantastic job picking gifts for your family. Lots of thought and heart in them and that is what counts...your little brother sounds like a neat boy...I love bookworms. And I bet your step dad will love his costco gift card...I wonder though if he really doesn't like getting gifts or if receiving them makes him feel uncomfortable so saying he doesn't like them is easier?

I wonder though if he really doesn't like getting gifts or if receiving them makes him feel uncomfortable so saying he doesn't like them is easier?

Maybe. He's not a very nice person, honestly.

Sounds wonderful, what you did for Christmas and detailed!

My bother is a bookworm. His name is Kirean, and hes the handsome kid I have ever seem. He's going to be a heart breaker. I love him to pieces. :inlove:

What have I bought for Christmas this year... LOL.

Mom & Dad - Blu ray player
Mom - gifts: ereader, purse
Mom stocking stuffers - 3 books, 2 magazines, bag of chips, box of Turtles (may be more I am not remembering right now)
Dad - 3 books
Daughter: Sims 3 Pets, Sims Fast Lane Stuff, Sims High End Loft, Sims Town Life, Justin Bieber Christmas album, Roxy shirt from Costco, Harry Potter calendar, Harry Potter poster, Claires & Starbucks gift certificates $25 each, I tunes cards $30 (got for $25), H&M & Urban Planet gift cards $50 each. Then stocking stuffers & candy.

The holiday to New York was our Christmas present however we received a gift voucher so we decided to use that for gifts from Santa.

Well ooh ooh ooh do I score well with Santa :O_o: . Santa decided on DVDS and when Santa's helper went shopping she couldn't find any of the DVDs Nicolette wanted and graciously decided to use all of the gift voucher to buy Anthony the TV Series NCIS which he wanted. There was enough to buy 4 DVDs so Santa's helper bought seasons 3,4,5 & 6 as 1 & 2 were not in stock.

As it turns out Santa's male helper thought he would buy Nicolette the one DVD she wanted - Cars 2 (she loves kids movies) when he went shopping last night. Funny thing is when Santa's female helper went to wrap the DVDs she discovered that Santa's male helper had bought her NCIS seasons 1 & 2 along with Cars  ..... apparently Santa's male helper figured Nicolette would love to contribute to Anthony's TV series collection. Unbelievable!!!! :whistling::speechless::roflmao:

HA!!! Nicolette, Rain's male Santa's helper seems to do the same so it's always a struggle in trying to get something he hasn't gotten "help" in getting before hand . I think I nailed it this year!! (I'm not saying what it is because he might look on here ;))

I got my mother a donation to the local Animal Coalition that is a free/low cost clinic and no kill shelter.
We sent a great check to my Son and our lovely Daughter IL for their anniversary, which is so close to Christmas, for a night out, gifts, and whatever.

Bought them more family gifts this year - a home music set, "Name that Tune" with musical instruments, microphones, tamborines, etc. They play a lot of games. There is also a blow up bowling ball game - they have a tradition of hallway football, basketball, soccer, and now I'm providing hallway bowling. It's something they to play during the commercials while a football game is on. With 4 boys, you're either in or go home. ;)
I LOVE that they do this!!
(This is stuff we did when they were kids.)

I gave all the boys miniature stockings with a couple of bills and candy and a couple of small things for my Son and Daughter IL.

The "Girls" made out this year!! It's a doggie kind of Christmas!! I wrapped 6 presents each for them, and there are footballs, a tiny basketball, little Santas, things that look like hedgehogs, they are gonna love it!

I haven't done any shopping this year and didn't even get cards out. :(. On the plus side, the tree is up and so are some decorations.

This year, we all decided (children, sister, nephews) that we would not buy gifts, but just do a "potluck" type of dinner on Christmas Eve. I am having it at my house and tomorrow night we will all eat, play cards, watch Christmas movies and just enjoy each others company.

I am buying gift cards for my remaining employees. This is the first year we have not done some type of Christmas party or luncheon. I will pick up presents for my Grandson and a few little "Santa" things.

Funny, but today I feel wonderful. Better than I can remember feeling in years???? Why I don't know, but I think it was an early Christmas present. Nothing changed but my outlook and attitude. Now to share it with my family, friends and loved ones.

I treated hubby to a painting of a West Highland Terrier, not a big one, and slightly caricatured. Plus a few other bits and pieces.

My grandchildren each have cardboard trunks, full of books, dressing up clothes, jigsaws and of course sweets and mini crackers.

My 2 daughters and partners, have tins of home made cakes biscuits and sweets.

The kids also have some decorated biscuits and chocolate dipped marsh mallows. As well as the shortbread Christmas tree's I made.

I bought for us both today, 2 CD's of music by soldiers and military wives, where some of the money goes to Help for Hero's.
