Research Ptsd Anonymous Research Survey

Ok, I have just done your survey. However as someone who is taking prescription medication AND receiving psychotherapy how can I judge if one is more helpful than the other? That would require me to try each individually and independently I think. On the other hand if I were only receiving one or the other I would have no experience with which to give you an answer.

Also, nowhere in the survey have you asked if I have been diagnosed with anything, PTSD or otherwise.

I appreciate your interest, and can see it has a personal slant, but you most certainly are not going to get any rigorous data from this survey. Good luck with your studies!

Very good points Lucycat.

My OH has 4 separate lables within his diagnosis, all of them interact and only one of them is PTSD

Validates my comments up thread about collaboration and trialing before going live.

But don't despair Alchemistul!

As undergrad (is junior the first year?) the work you do is designed to be a learning process - in this case "concrete experience" stage of Kolb's Learning Cycle (google it). If the US degree system is anything like the UK one, at this stage your final write up should contain a refelctive portion, usually in the discussion section. The experience of posting in this forum to elicit participants, including the feed back you get (positive and negative), is a very important part of your research experience. I've been there.

Good luck!

The survey was initially for people with PTSD. I have friends diagnosed with PTSD and they are willing to volunteer for my research so this was a second option for me. You can judge if one is more helpful by what you feel and make of it. Are you telling yourself that the medication is working when in reality it is only a temporary fix? Are you telling yourself that therapy is working and you are finding different methods to deal with your symptoms? Again thank you for taking the survey I did make slight changes to it regarding what you said. I am not too worried about collecting rigorous data because if I made the survey too long it would lose focus on what I am doing. I appreciate you taking the survey.

How about yours?

My Ba Hons (1st class) was in Childhood, Culture & Education, graduated 2008. My dissertation examined the relationship between Edwardian charity photography and modern day prejudices against disabled people and the construction of a "disabled" identity.

I am now researching for a masters in Learning Disabilities: Severe, Profound & Complex, working towards a PhD.

Thanks, and likewise :)

I hope you didn't think I was jumping on you earlier. The education portion of my undergrad made me read around the processes of teaching and learning and the first year of the masters was all about research theory and practice. Hence the comments.

To be honest, I am procrastinating right now :whistling: and need to get a couple of hours reading in before bed.
