Does Anyone Have A Bucket List?

I thought it may be a good idea to start this thread as I do have a Bucket List myself. For some this may be difficult especially having PTSD, where every day is a challenge in itself.

This can be a rewarding experience setting goals for the future, perhaps with a time frame in mind to achieve a certain goal. Some could be any time, others 3 months for easier goals, or years for harder ones. To simplify, it is like taking a journey in your car, where you know the purpose and the direction you are travelling in. It is not necessarily about the time it takes to reach your destination. It's the forward planning that matters.

Depending on how you feel to begin, can determine how big your list can be and you can always add to it at a later date. It doesn't have to be in any particular order either. When each goal is achieved you can cross it off your list. Setting goals helps keep you motivated.

So far in my life (I may be a lot older than some of you), I have achieved many of my goals with a few left. The most important goal being to find contentment or perhaps happiness before I kick the Bucket! Below is part of my list, including goals that I have achieved.

  1. Travel the world.
  2. Get accepted into and go to University.
  3. Learn different languages.
  4. Show my children and grandchildren that I love them.
  5. Watch my grandchildren achieve their goals and be successful in life.
  6. Forgive my parents for the way they treated me.
  7. Show kindness and compassion to complete strangers.
  8. Get my licence and buy a motor bike.
  9. Stop my addictive behaviour with alcohol, cigarettes and drugs.
  10. To live my life and not let the PTSD rule it.
  11. Be a Mentor to someone.
  12. Make a difference in some ones life.
  13. Take a parachute jump.
  14. Watch the sun set into the sea.
  15. See the first snow in winter.
  16. Go on a Ocean cruise.

Yeah, it's a good idea; ALSO a great addition to the next movie list ;)

So far I only have one thing not to do in my life.
1. Don't kick anyone else's bucket.

It is harder to come up with things to do for myself that are not on my therapissd's lists for me to accomplish before THEY kick it.

Like your sense of humour hahaha:laugh:

Thanks Loloma, I like your taste in humor. So, what is your bucket made of and how big is it? Does it look anything like mine?

(((Bec))) Good on you, you've got the right spirit "Carpe Diem". The other list is more negative as that is "The One Day List". A lot of it never eventuates.

Loloma are you not a good mentor to your offspring and theirs? Have you made a difference in their lives? Bring them into the world?

I would love to sky dive too

Get my commission in the Royal Navy.
Get my seaplane class rating.
Get my conventional undercarriage (tail-dragger) class rating
Get my multi-engine rating
Get a motorcycle licence
Get a 1940s Harley Davidson
Get a Series 2 lightweight Landrover.
Travel to Mongolia and spend a good long time out on the steppes
Travel around South and Central America for a while
Go back to various places in Africa
Buy a big farm
Have kids
Spend lots of time at the pub with my friends singing and dancing like people in the background of a really cliched music video from the '80s.

It's basically a sequel to my 'When I Grow Up' list which was:

Be a pilot
Be a soldier
Be a fireman
Go to the places in the old books my Great Aunt gave me.
Be a palaeontologist

Sadly, palaeontology remains merely a hobby, but I start my training with the fire brigade in January, so I think Young-Me would be pleased. I shouldn't suffer any Disney-esque visitations like Bruce Willis.
