War Horse

Most heartwarming incredible story of compassion and bonds I ever recall.

I would say it depends on ones ability too see it as a very well done movie. It is quite colorfully graphic with depiction of the war and times. I will say it is not candy coated. I felt like I was in the middle of it. The human/animal bonding just brought tears to my eyes.

For those that are very sensitive to war and accidents I would not recommend seeing it. It is a feel good movie but not for everyone. Hope this helps! Hugs Whitney

I have read so many wonderful posts about this horse and what happened to him. Many comments have been emotional and the nature of the story is probably the reason. But I also wonder if it is the trauma this horse endured and the ending which gives rise to inner reflection. I know watching the documentary did this for me.

I have never been far from horses until now, growing up around horses that my brothers and I rode almost every day. I love horses and dogs and I know they love me. I think for me, I felt very emotional with the horse because of this affection I have for them. They are beautiful creatures in so many ways.

I found quite a bit of PTSD in it (in the horse).

I don't know if animals get PTSD but they certainly present with similar symptoms.

MY sister-in-law's mother had a dog that was very gently but it would cower in fright whenever my brother entered the room with his motorcycle helmet on. Once he took it off the dog was fine. It was a rescue dog and we often wondered if it had been abused by someone who wore a helmet?

In the Lord of the Rings film there is a horse who's rider (Theodred) had been killed. The horse was willed; almost mad and Aragorn told them to set him free saying the horse had seen too much war.

Animal suffer too. :(

Animal suffer too.

They sure do. :(

I had a dog once, when I was a teen (around 13). He would cower in fright when my mother would pick up the newspaper from a desk or the floor. One time, the first time I noticed this, we both did, the dog and I. Sure says a lot.

Oh, and Cath, feel free to drop by in Berlin any time. :) (Just had a look at the Nature Photos thread. :))
