My Mom Is In The Hospital :(

I found out via facebook that my mom is in the hospital. We live in different states. It happened last year and now again this year. She is diabetic and it has never been well managed. She got a new fancy insulin pump that was supposed to make it better to manage, but it seems no. She has DKA (diabetic keto-acidosis).

Last time this happened the nurses were unable to follow the doctors orders regarding her insulin while she was in the hospital and they made her worse. She checked herself out AMA and went to a new hospital. I need to find out what hospital she is in. It is too early to call yet, so I will have to later.

I am also worried that she is there alone. My brother is not good at staying with her when she is in the hospital. My step-dad is out of state, so it is likely just her. I am so worried about her. She can never seem to go an entire year without health problems that send her to the hospital. She is only 50 years old, she is so sick for her age. :(

I just texted her. It is still early there, but maybe she has the volume down if she is sleeping. Hopefully I can get some more information soon. Thank you all for the comments.

Hope you get some news soon and that your mother is doing better. My own mother is a non compliant diabetic. She's given me a few scares this year. I hope that they can find a course of treatment that will get her better managed PL :hug:

I am sorry to hear about your mom. Hopefully she will be doing better soon. I have a cousin who is now 4 but almost died at around 10 months because of undiagnosed juvenile diabetes. He is on the pump now too.
