Sufferer Odd Childhood Revisiting Me Years Later

What do you mean?

1) I meant that this whole forum thing is so new to me and I posted this in introductions, do my posts stay here or is there a spot/place/forum for new people?

2) Thank you for the briefing about my T, not sure how that is going to work since it is VERY difficult to talk about my childhood. Being safe...living safely...there are no words for me...

3) I have been reading about depression and PTSD which is how I began to put all the pieces together when the flashbacks started.

4) I really do have great kids especially considering all that they have been through. I just want to be able to take care of them instead of them taking care of me half the time. I have read that guilt is quite common with both depression and PTSD. I really just want my life back.

Not sure how to separate this post from the one I am replying to.

Debbet,

You can now go anywhere you wish in the forum and post about any issue you want to. Choose which forum according to what you want to speak about.

Welcome to the forum. :)

If you are having trouble with the forum you may want to watch these video's that the forum's owner, Anthony made:

[DLMURL]https://www.ptsdforum.org/c/forums/video-tutorials.93/[/DLMURL]

They are very helpful in learning how to use the forum to it's best.

Take care.

For decades I told myself I was strong and tried to avoid feeling much because I felt it would empower those who preyed upon me. Only now as I get older and look back do I see what I survived. I finally have time to reflect in a reasonably safe quiet place and it's been hitting me like a ton of bricks. You might just have to process this for a while. It might not always be so bad. Blessings.

I know what you mean about it finally getting to you once you are safe. I always felt like I could handle anything and then fall apart afterwards only now I know that I wasn't really processing what had happened mentally. I just figured once all the shaking stopped it was over, I didn't realize that was just the physical effects of adrenaline wearing off. My mind never grappled with the reality of events. I hope you find a peaceful place and state of mind.
