spoil your pets when you don't move, even though you are freezing, because you don't want to disturb them

You mean like this :rolleyes::inlove:

Your dog has the same eyes as my dog Mysty used to have. What a cute face. My dog used to lay her head on our laps when she was asking for some treat. I miss her so much. I cried my eyes out when she died. I had her cremated and I still have her ashes.

adopted a dog from the humane society

I think that is awesome that you adopted from a shelter. All but one dog of mine over the years have come from some sort of shelter. I did have a dane, who they didn't tell me of her hip problems, that was an older adoptee. She was an absolute sweetheart and I fell in love with danes because of her. The first time her hips gave out on her I was in an absolute panic and rushed her to the emergency vet. There we found out she had hip dysplasia and wobbler's disease. Playing with our other dog helped strengthen her hips and she had less episodes. They also have physical therapy swimming for dogs like that, but it was too far away. We were always careful of her limitations, very careful when it was slippery out.

It is good that you know what you have gotten into before hand. That way you can be proactive. I would have liked that.

Congratulations on your new baby. She looks like a sweetheart!

Heehee. We have a shelter dog and an second dog who would have ended up euthanized or in a shelter because of her behavior. My dogs are always together and always get along. They never fight and play together beautifully. My little dog is 20lbs and the big one is about 65lbs. Little dog is pug/scottish terrier and the big one is doberman/rottie. My little dog forces the big one into submission so that she can give him loving face baths that can last up to 10 minutes! At first he hated them and now my big lug goes to her and asks for face baths - lies down in front of her face and swats her with his paw if she doesn't wash his face.

It is not uncommon to find them sharing a Nylabone. They are great at sharing toys and can even eat out of the same bowl without conflict. Sometimes little dog gets a little mean, but hey, little dogs usually rule the roost.

I don't have a camera, so this is a picture I found online that looks exactly like my little boy Zebra Finch(5 months old). The only difference is that my Crest has a more pronounced black band across his chest! He does so many things that make me laugh and make me so happy, but the funniest thing I think he does is when I give him cotton ball pieces to feather his nest with. He likes to take one and soak it in his water dish, play with it on the floor of his cage, and then bring it to his nest! What is he thinking? lol :D I got him on Oct. 8th of this year. At first it was EXTREMELY difficult for me to accept another living being in my apartment, and I have to confess I tried to give him away several times, but through the help of a good friend and the grace of God, I was able to work through it and now he is the joy of my life!!!:happy:

The presence of another being in my space has become very comforting. My dogs know how to be around me without being invasive. They make me feel needed because they rely on me for food, water, shelter and walks outside. They love me unconditionally which is something animals do that humans can be really bad at.

Well said MissMacD! I find that having my little birdy is also greatly comforting to me! I think I know what you mean about your dogs knowing how to be around you but not be invasive. My birdy does his thing and I do mine, but we're TOGETHER and some times we connect when he sings to me and I talk to him or spend some time watching him at his cage. All I have to do is look at him or know that under his cage cover he is sleeping soundly in his nest to make myself feel good! :joyful:
