Hi,

My name is Nicole, I am 25 years old and I have been diagnosed with a number of things. From BPD to OCPD and most recently Complex PTSD. I personally agree with my CPTSD diagnosis the most, it seem the most fitting. My therapist, who specializes in eating disorder and trauma (my two main issues), thinks I was misdiagnosed with the BPD as I don't show the signs of manipulation and thinking everyone else is wrong like most with BPD do.

I have a number of health problems that have caused me to not be able to work or finish school. I only need one more semester in order to complete my teaching degree but my memory is very messed up. We aren't sure if that's PTSD related or neurological issues. I think it's a bit of both.

I struggle with body memories and have a hard time finding anyone else who does so if you do, I'd love to have a conversation where maybe we could figure out techniques to help reduce them.

I also have total immersion flashbacks, does anyone have any tips to make those easier or at least come at more convenient times?

Well, I hope to get to know some of you!

Nicole

Thanks!

Basically I hurt 24/7. I was involved in childhood prostitution until I was 10 and molestation by my father until I was 22. The last night I was at my parents house they both tortured me. I feel the pain of what they did to me. Sometimes it feels like an excruciating UTI, other times it feels exactly like what was happening, other times it's a really bad burning sensation but pain is always there.

From BPD to OCPD
Welcome Nicole. While an acronym may be familiar to you it may not be to others so please write out the full word, add the acronym in brackets and then use the acronym throughout the post.

An example is BPD could mean Bi-Polar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder etc.

Thanks

Well, BPD doesn't ever mean Bi-polar disorder if you are educated in psychology at all but okay.

Borderline Personality Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (which is different from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder).

Now, am I going to get into trouble for not going into detail on what each of these are? If so, it's not worth it. I'll find a different forum. Never in my life have I had someone seriously edit a post to add an extra space and tell me that my abbreviations were not acceptable until I came here. I understand that people have a difficult time reading when things are a jumbled mess but my post was no such thing. Especially when this was my FIRST POST. This is definitely not a welcoming forum...at all.

I also have body (tissue) memories.

It's good that you recognize them for what they are. I spent a lot of time going to the hospital or the doctor only to find out they were memories, not current. Now, I know how to go within to determine which they are. I know what to do to stop them and that helps a lot.

How may I help you? Have you talked to your therapist about them?

Yeah, I talked to my residential counselor when I was there and we worked a lot on just learning how to relax and tell my body that it isn't real. It took me a long time to realize that it wasn't real, if I weren't in treatment I don't think I would have figured it out so quickly. I am so thankful that I did!

What do you do to control yours? No matter how much I tell my body that it isn't really happening, it still thinks that it is and it's nearly impossible to get it to stop. It feels so real that I went to the doctor to make sure nothing was actually wrong.

Nicole, it is disappointing that you seem so upset by Nicolette's comments. I am sure we have all at some point been advised of either breaching forum rules or not being clear. For many of us on here, we are not educated in psychology, if we were we probably wouldn't have the need to access the forum for understanding and support. We are all people doing our best to cope and live through PTSD and its complications be it as a supporter or sufferer. In Nicolette's defence I am not familiar with many of the acronyms some people use on here and clarification is very helpful. I often re read over the rules and appreciate the occasional notification to keep me on track. The rules are what make the forum run smoothly for all using it, to ensure those with PTSD can cope with reading posts. It reinforces the integrity of the forum as a safe place for sufferers and supporters to access a wealth of knowledge and experience.
