Stats / Ranks System - Member Feedback Required

I'm going to install a member stats system. You're already used to it, as it's the same thing as the member usertitle ranks now used, except this is image based. Currently, your usertitle changes based on post count.

A ranks system is a small image based system under your avatar that changes based on a define input. It could work on likes or posts or credits or pretty much any one thing that is a statistic here against member activity.

The feedback needed is more based on the type of image used. For example, on a tennis forum I run it uses a little tennis man. As post count increases, more men show. When you hit a certain amount, then men start again, except now in a different colour. It starts at bronze (beginner) goes through silver, gold, platinum and then red, for coach.

So a similar idea is needed for here, where some type of image is used and changes as a member progresses, showing their healing journey based on defined time and effort here. This is most likely why post count is the option for use, as the more a user posts, often the more questions they're asking, the more work they're doing mentally, thus the more healing is often obtained.

Ideas?

Sounds like a great idea. If you have sports cars that would be universal. Both male and female tend to have that special dream car.

Not knowing how detailed your program is but the base could be an old clunker trading up to sports cars or the ultimate Hummer.

I feel it would be best if kept on the fun side.

Lightbulb! Toilets, the more one posts the more flushes one has. But that would require a sound to be effective. Flushing sound to clarify! I'll go back to my corner now. :wacky: Whitney

I must be missing something. Why would anyone be bothered how many posts another member has? It sounds a bit competitive.

I can see that it's interesting to be able to look at the statistics if, like me, you enjoy that sort of thing, and that it might be useful for a researcher to follow up your idea that there is a correlation between rate of posting and rate of recovery. However, couldn't it be argued the opposite way - that as we recover we have less need for the input of others, so fewer posts are a sign of recovery?

If there was a way to rank users by wisdom, that would be really useful. But the only method I can think of would require another button beside the like button, so we could flag a post as wise and then collate up the votes by forum topic and by member.

that as we recover we have less need for the input of others, so fewer posts are a sign of recovery?
If I understand correctly, you will go up the system, become a Hummer - just to use that example for clarity - for example, and then stay a Hummer if you start posting less. So, you'll get to drive off into the mental health sunset with the Hummer. If your posts dwindle, you won't downgrade again.

It my assumption is correct, I think it is a great idea.

Lightbulb

Maybe a lightbulb? Because the more work you do mentally, the more lightbulbs come on (wisdom), in others from reading your posts (maybe) and in yourself by writing (and rereading) your own and others' posts.

An owl (symbol for wisdom)? A pencil (would be perfect for you, Pencil :D) A tree?

My own symbol for healing has always been a tree. Mine doesn't have many roots, not really that deeply down. But whenever I felt like I made a huge step, it felt as if a root was suddenly shooting into the earth and fixing my tree more so that when a(nother) storm would come, I'd be more stable and firm. Also, to me, if a tree is bushy with lots of leaves in a healthy green, it gives me a feeling of peace. An earthly symbol that shows strength and endurance.
