It is Veterans Day/Remembrance day today. So it got me thinking...Do you know a veteran?

My father is a Veteran. He was a officer in the Air Force. My grandfather (his father) was in the Army and served in Korea. He passed away about 6 years ago.

Do you know anyone?

Both my parents and one of my brothers are veterans. My father (RIP) was a CPO in the US Navy and spent time at Pearl Harbor (after the raid from the latter half of 1942 to 1945). My mother served in the Navy WAVES on Treasure Island in San Francisco. They met in SF and married in 1946.

My dad, three uncles, two.cousins, my great uncle died flying in ww2, and my N. plus various friends. Where I live joining the military is one of the only options for providing a "better life".

We have veterans since before the Revolutionary War. I and my brother are both vets. It is viewed in our family as part of our responsibility as citizens. I'm not sorry I served. Neither is my brother or anyone else in our family. We are soldiers, we are warriors from a long line.

I am a warrior and this is my song:

I am a fighter and believe some things are worth more than my life. I am aware not everyone things this way. But that's just tough. Yeah, we're stone cold in my family. We fight when necessary for what we believe in.

What Ayesha, no love for over 200 years of service? What is this thread about?

My 7th generation great grandfather was a signer of the Declaration of Independence... and we paid the price for freedom... we defend it. My families blood has been shed for this country for over 200 years.

Apparently knowing a veteran versus being one is good enough for this thread. Happy veterans day civilians, enjoy the holiday and shop the sales. (sarcasm intended)

My dad was at Monte Cassino in WWII. He was deaf in one ear so he volunteered for the ambulance corps. He was shot but survived. With untreated PTSD.
