I have read in a few places about the idea that Post-traumatic Stress Disorder should be renamed to Post-Traumatic Stress Injury and I've found it very interesting, including the concept that as we recover, the injury leaves behind a healed scar - which I personally find to be an accurate description of how I see being healed. Mostly I'm opening this thread to discuss people views on this idea and whether people disagree or agree but also because I wanted to share these charts comparing a typical psychiatric illness (in this instance Paranoia) to the Hypervigilant aspect PTSD.
(The chart does not work well on this site, so here is the link instead, you'll find the information I mean under the subheading differences between mental illness and psychiatric injury: http://medicalwhistleblowernetwork.jigsy.com/ptsd-injury-not-disease)
So... Discuss!
