New Here
Well, a great part of me says I shouldn't be here because my traumatic events are related to my 20 yr. abusive marriage relationship and several events, one an assault, in my career as a public school elementary teacher. One principal, after 19 yrs. of teaching tried to have my credentlal taken away from me. He couldn't. In the case of the assault, a different district did not believe me about the assault and tried to fire me. So, see? That all seems trival compared to what first responders, rape victims, and soldiers experience. None the less, i am broken and so....I am here.

Welcome, it is wonderful you are here! And you deserve to be here! Your experiences so painful, I'm sorry that happened to you. Even though you endured professionally, (despite people who didn't want to hear your truth), the emotional pain takes longer to heal. I hope you find support on this forum.

Your traumas are as important, as anyone's! (Please consider giving up comparing painful experiences.) You have the right to let out your pain; in fact it is good to do so. You are valuable, and your healing is important.

Long ago, I was told not to cry, or I would have something to cry about, or because worse things happen to other people. The only reason that I am better is because I started to cry, which started my recovery. This forum has helped me decrease the effect of traumas, and it has helped me avoid some further traumas, just by how the support in this forum has increased my confidence, and has learn new behaviors.

I think your traumas can decline, too.
I look forward to more of your posts.

Welcome

I am so sorry that you have been treated in that way.

I too have been a public school teacher for many years. I was angry when I read about how the people in the districts treated you.

Any trauma should be validated. There are plenty of us that will encourage & empathize with you.

Take care & know that you are not alone.

@Barb317 Welcome to the forum! :)

Everyone's trauma is as individual as they are, so do not get into the trap of thinking your's "is not that bad". Minimizing traumatic events just makes a person feel worse in the long run, and just keep focusing on getting better. The majority of the members here have PTSD, or are the support person of someone who does, and we are all here to help ourselves and each other in the healing process.

I hope you find the information and support beneficial to your own healing.

Look, I came here looking for help and to help. I didn't come to be "parented" and get in trouble. Now....I certainly won't be back. Hoping to find a way to delete my membership. I don't really understand what rule I broke or what I did incorrectly.
The morning after my very first post, which was simply introducing myself and stating how I evolved into PTSD, I was sent an email by this site's staff stating:
