Sufferer A Letter I Sent To To My Treatment Coordinator At The Va

In the Army, especially amongst the "Shooters" empathy is not very prevelant.
Sometimes, even when you feel empathy inside, it's hard to own up to the feelings. So many reasons to feel afraid! Afraid to be seen as weak, or vulnerable. Afraid to admit some kind of truth, because that means it could apply to you too.... Lots of reasons. In the end, I think it takes way more courage to admit a problem and face it than it does to pretend that nothing's wrong. (Coming from a lifetime of experience pretending that nothing's wrong!)

Glad you're feeling some hope!

Don't feel so very alone
I hope you don't feel so alone. You deserve the best for everything you have given and for being the person you are.

I am a former Marine and I know what you guys must go thru and its amazing to me the fortitude you have. I think its great you came here to look for support, and I know there are a lot of good people that can do that.

Thanks for everything you have done!

Welcome to the forum, you will get so much support from here.
Your letter was very sad but so true.
I've often told my T who used to tell me to google things that Google doesn't have all the answers!!! Google can't feel wat a cptsd suffere feels , or the anger , emotions and google definately can't put a plan in place for us to help and support us as individuals .
I think your final part if your letter re your pen was very very sad. Your letter was written from the heart and was a very honest letter.
Eventhough on this forum we don't always have the answers , you will get all the support you need and guidance and we will definately be able to relate to some if not all how your feeling.

That is an amazing letter!

OMG!

Are you safe Doc? I do hope so.

What an inappropriate response. How can Veterans be so poorly looked after? I just don't understand it.

Welcome to the Forum. I send you my sincere best wishes.

@Army Doc I am grateful, for your letter, so aptly worded to express what we experience. We were broken beyond ordinary human experience, and we try to assimilate and become productive. We attempt to come at life at full speed beyond our personal traumas that kill lesser men. We are reminded of our time in our individual trenches, struggling for our lives and yet, we overcame it and we finally reach that place where we can no longer take another step on our own. We ask for help from those that don't understand, we ask them to not understand but to respond from the heart. We don't ask that they go to that place we were at, if they lack the tools to help us, they would more than likely, never survive. Thank You for sharing. You made my day. I wanted to jump up and shout, "THIS! THIS! THIS" this, is what I am feeling, every, single, day.

Thank You for your service army doc and welcome to the forum, I hope you find your stay here as informative as I've found it to be.

Sorry for the wandering, and drifting prose, Army Doc, you words hit me square. That whole, "Gee. Let me Google it." Sad, state of affairs. You will get more help here, than from a bureaucratic sycophant "working tirelessly to serve our wounded warriors...blah blah." Sorry you had to endure that.
