You know you have complex trauma when you realize that you are not who you thought you were.
When you realize you DO have a soul and you ARE a person.
When you realize that 90% of your opinions are not yours, they are the ones given to you by your abusers.
You know you have complex trauma when everyday is a struggle to relive the flashbacks , to try and live a NORMAL life , to try and smile through your pain and tears, to try and explain to your colleagues what just happened to you when you flashbacked whilst chairing a meeting and have to leave feeling distressed, sick and exhausted and totally exhausted thinking about when the next one is going to happen! I hate feeling like this, I just want to feel ok
You know you have complex trauma when your partner comments that twice in the last 24 hours that they have approached me and I didn't jump out of my skin. (And they are so delighted by this!)
When your personal motto becomes "watch out for the nice ones".
When it seems as though every time you believe you have grasp on what is and what it not so begin making moves and then BAM!!! Down you go back inside to evaluate, process, reevaluate, research, reinforce, evaluate, process and stabilize.
