Donation Progression 2015 / 16

To avoid further issues with the donation... if we keep fairly up-to date each month, then there should be no need for a massive fund raising appeal near the end. As of today, the forum is now back to square, and by the 20th of May we need to be $570. We then progress at $285 per month and all is well. This accommodates a recent further upgrade of RAM needed to stop errors occurring with the search functionality.

This allows members to know at all times whether the site is ahead or behind for next years annual payment.

Goal by July 20th: $1140

<grin> I gotta say, though, I really loved the community spirit & unity of purpose that kicked in during the drive! :D

While I hope we can make this a yearly thing... I can see how leaving it up to the last minute when things are now being paid annually could lead up more stress of a different kind. Maybe we could do another annual drive a few months in advance (maybe even 6? Meet our target and then above and beyond to pay for snazziness & new hardware/software/upgrades)? Could see a lot of different ways it could work out on our end... Just not sure what would be the least stress on yours.

I'm simply going to put up the amount it should be at, if breaking even on a month by month basis... and if it doesn't meet it, then yes, at some point some months time, we could do a donation drive. IMO, it will be easier if we spur donations each month to meet the goal, that way there will be no massive requirement that may, or may not, work.

They are always good for getting people who ordinarily wouldn't give - something about the "let's all pitch in" spirit. But I think keeping it to once a year will keep folks from getting donation fatigue.

And meanwhile, we can try and keep our monthly goals on target, as you suggest.

Heya the drive was so much fun! I really enjoyed that! It was great to see people get into the spirit.

I hope we can keep to our monthly goals, but I am so looking forward to our next big fundraising drive.

I've updated the first post with the needed monthly goals to achieve the end result without any issue. As you can see... we're ahead of the game right now by a month.

I feel we need to be ahead if possible as when it gets closer to Christmas and holidays, time and money are both harder. So if we can all do a bit each month ( if everyone just put in $5.00 a month ) where else do you get this much support and information for $1.25 a week. It would not be left up to just a few to sort it out.

Come on get a tin colour it up and decorate it put it on your bench and each week put $1.25 in it and once a month or every two months make a donation.

Don't use this site and leave it to a few to pay for you, if everyone joins in its the cheapest thing in the world with the biggest support and information !!!!!

My advice is that people also don't put themselves into that position, by thinking it is their responsibility. Put in what you want, then leave the rest for others, putting other users into the corner who don't donate, to donate and support the service they use.

@anthony - would you consider incorporating the goal chart, above, into the Donation page? Just I thought. I was checking it out over there and realized I wanted to know the breakdown, and came here - but for those who are newer, they may not know the history. Of course, it's just math...

All I can afford is ten dollars per month. There were times when I could be far more generous but i am living in a motel for four weeks and already made my ten dollar promotion. I so appreciate Anthony everything you do and have done for all of us and it is a very worthy cause.

Just bumping this up.... really appreciate everyone's efforts with the drive - I was so proud of everyone who made it happen (and that includes those who just contributed to the spirit due to financial constraints). We seem to be tracking along nicely however I am mindful of what @Sammyiam said with Christmas (and afterwards) being more difficult months than most.
