Is Anyone Else Really Sensitive To Noise?

@void I dont think so. When i am not overly numb I can be very emotional and empathetic and I like metaphorical stuff and am pretty good with language. My inflection is not flat at all and I can read people like books. That rules it out pretty much I think. I feel like all my bases are covered pretty nicely by PTSD and am very focused on that.

I've occasionally mentioned that I liberally use drummer's earplugs in certain situations. Unlike regular earplugs, they still allow for crystal clear transmission of normal sounds, like conversation (or music ;) as the drummer needs to actually hear what they're playing along with), but cut out the boom! in both upper and lower registers. Not cheap, at $10-$20 but very, very worth it.

I've found something better, recently. Same price point @$15. Same concept. Better execution.

@FridayJones You read my mind. I was just going to mention drummers earplugs as well. That is what I use. I have spoken to my doctor, and therapist's about this issue, and they both brought up Misophonia. I use earplugs usually whenever I don't have my good headphones on, and am listening to what I want to listen to.

Thanks. I will look into it. Whatever it is, it really annoys me. lol

If you need help, you can let me know.:bookworm::)

Make sure you find professionals that give the facts. Audiologists are the best bet as it is within their purview.
Some incorrect info exists in the Internetz.

Just know you are not alone.

Given the shear amount of us who seem to have this issue, I am not convinced that it isn't a PTSD symptom or at least related to PTSD.

I am going got look into those earplugs someone because I can't do traditional earplugs, for fear of not hearing something that could be a danger.

I don't have a clue what it's related to but any irregular noise is bloody infuriating to me. Things like mouth noises, birds chirping, trickling water as well as over the top subwoofer thumping in the back of the stupid @#&*ing neighbour kids Honda. Not that I'm bitter about the last one or anything, lol.

The other thing I noticed the other day when someone is knocking on a door (difficult to describe the sound) but like a light barely audible rapid but irregular constant tapping. Holy jumping jesus, that is rage inducing!

There are days when I feel like an old man, everything is too damn loud.
