Care to comment on whether vets WANT to integrate into a civilian community?

Sure. The motivation for this research stems from a paper from the journal of psychiatric services. "Reintegration problems and treatment interests among Iraq and Afghanistan combat veterans receiving VA medical care" by Sayer et al. They surveyed like 1000 vets all over the U.S. and 96% expressed interest in services to readjust to civilian life.

There are some other meta studies out there that echo that same sentiment, I can dig them up for you if you're interested.
