Angry Over Something Stupid

I'm agitated over a stupid neighborhood web site. The neighborhood site is very proactive and I like it a great deal but it isn't the OFFICIAL site for our neighborhood assoc.

I suggested a neighborhood watch yard sign like an assoc near us has. I made one real quick a jpeg so they could get an idea. I put at the bottom the assoc's name.

I start getting terse notes from the Treasurer of the assoc. and he demands I take it off. I try to explain I would never use the name without the Boards OK. It's just an example.

I asked the Members if they would want one because the cost is about ten dollars each.

I get another angry and yelling (Cap Letters) note. I'm not authorized to ask Members these questions I have no authority to do so and so on Etc. All the time I telling him I didn't mean to step on folks toes. I assure him it's a sample and I would never make them with name without permission.

I receive a couple more terse yelling emails about I can't do this and I can't do that.

In the mean time I get a note FROM the Vice Pres. of the association saying they will consider the idea.

Then I get another note from the Treasurer yelling all of the same stuff about I'm not authorized to do this. He then accuses me of going behind his back to another Board Member. He says it won't matter any but there must be something wrong with me.

I explain I didn't go behind his back. I've offered my hand in friendship but you have chosen another route. If you intend to continue this line of complaints please don't for I do not wish to entertain them.

Why is this pissing me off so bad? The whole thing is stupid.

Sounds like your treasurer has power issues, and thinks he is a little hitler

Do the treasurer's attacks remind you of your trauma? Even without trauma it would be hard to not be angry about this kind of behavior.
Sounds like the VP is a reasonable person. It may be that he/she has problems relating to the treasurer as well.
You've handled this well!

So this treasurer has the balls to challenge you privately on the Internet, does he have the Bollocks to stand in front of you, witnessed by all the other members and challenge you man to man??

I sincerely doubt it mate so pardon the phrase "f*ck Him"

You are right to propose what you have and should not feel any shame in that whatsoever, you have stood up for your own convictions and they are proper and true.

I have said enough now.

Even if you weren't right to propose it (and I can't see why this would be), nobody has the right to treat you like that. I would be off the wall angry about being treated like that.

My personal feeling is that he feels stupid for not thinking of it in the first place .. Congratulations you dit very good .. I love that idea and the effort you put into it. I really hope the assoc think about it and yes let him challenge you at a meeting he is " slapgat" and would say it infront of people ..
Ignore any further emails from him. Don't even open it just forward to the VP.. Don't fight such a person in the dark expose him to the light..:)

Wow! Sounds like a powerfreak. You did all the right things. What type of site is that?! Sounds like Kim Jong ong...best ignored, regarding the angry Emails. I would think that the VP is more important anyways.

Sounds to me like your were being extremely rational, reasonable, and level- headed about it. Then to get a response and that matter, I can image anyone would be angry. Let alone someone that deals with PTSD. It's a huge stressor.

People like that remind me again of why I am in therapy. I like to tell myself the joke in my head: "I'm in THERAPY to learn how to deal with people who should be in THERAPY. "

Makes me laugh- everytime. Because think about it, it's so true. Luckily, we can understand the circle on control. We can't control their choices, only our own. But unfortunately WAY too many people have not had ever taken the time to be self- aware like we have had To.

As I call it, the blessing and the curse of PTSD.

Just know that anyone would have potentially been triggered with some anger with an app Caps response and the way they handled it. Im angry for you! Haha ;) * supportive frustration to guys like that*

Anyone would be diagnosis or not. He sounds like a swell fella ;)

I think you've shown good restraint up this point. I would send him a response stating very cleaarly that he needs to stop this childishness. If he cannot communicate with you in a calm civilised manor. He needs to cease communication immediately, or you will go over his head and file a complaint.

If want to be really cruel, send him a fruitcake.

Yeah, there are many, many stories of neighborhood assoc. "officers" (if that's what they're called) going on power trips. It's also common for them to not speak with one voice.

My neighborhood assoc. had some similar fun when it came to house painting. Good grief. I think maybe some people crave power, any power, and once they get some, they think they're Mussolini or something.

Fact: you didn't do anything wrong if all you did was violate some teeny, tiny rule that doesn't make much sense. Now maybe there's not much of a democratic process or free exchange of ideas in your assoc., which is common. If a member of an organization violates rules by making a suggestion, then do you want to remain a member?

One option is to talk to other assoc. members and see if you can't raise a procedural point.
