Hi All and I hope you're well! Just wondering before I commit to the supposed 30+ required amount of sessions, does anyone have positive experience after a lot of EMDR sessions for complex PTSD?
Thank you
Thank you

Impressive and well done! That is great commitment from you and I appreciate your response! Thank you very much for your reply and shall do : )For nearly a year, I committed to weekly EMDR sessions, and I found them to be incredibly helpful for my PTSD. Although the sessions required me to relive my trauma, it ultimately made me much less reactive to my triggers. I am so glad I dedicated my efforts to this process.
If you choose to go this route, please ensure your therapist establishes a 'safe place' before you begin. This gives you a mental refuge to return to after EMDR. In my own experience and observations, some therapists unfortunately fail to install this.
That's the thing, whatever the therapy - commitment. Do it 100% if you can.Impressive and well done! That is great commitment from you and I appreciate your response! Thank you very much for your reply and shall do : )
Man that is some dedication right there.. well done!EMDR is amazing - if you have the right therapist. In the hands of someone who doesn't how to do it well it can be a disaster for cptsd so choose carefully. It doesn't erase the memory. It changes how you feel about the memory. So when you think about thing A you don't feel frantic and like it's happening now. You just remember it as a sad thing in your past that should never have happened
How long it takes depends on things like how slow you need to go, how much trauma you have, how much you can tolerate. When I first started if I could hold the paddles for 90 seconds it was a huge win. Now I can do it for an hour.
Is 30 sessions enough? Ya, can't answer that one until you have tried it and know how many traumas you have to work thru. I'm an overachiever so I'm still doing it once a week or so and have been for the last 10 years cause I had no idea I had lived thru so much crapola and sorting it out took a long time.
Whatever you choose make sure you Go Slow!! Cannot stress this enough. Do enough to challenge your copings skills, learn some new coping skills, rinse and repeat!
