Anyone else feel weird on Zoloft? UPDATE: Trying again...

...at one point and for several months at another point. Everyone is different and I know for some people it takes several trial and error attempts to find the right med. Also, I know it can take a couple weeks or longer to feel the benefits of a SSRI. I hope your doctor returns your call soon :)

    Kittie's Journal

...you are in advance, the more likely your success. I know that for ME there is no way I could go cold turkey off klonopin onto bp meds and an ssri anti-depressant. I would probably end up in the E.R. I hope I don't teach you a lot. I hope rather that you are one of the lucky ones who can...

    I can't tolerate antidepressants.

Which ones have you tried? Citalopram made me feel extremely nauseous. That's an SSRI Am currently on Mirtazapine, and I don't feel nauseous on it at all. I forget which type of antidepressant it it, but it's not an SSRI.

    Anyone experience semi-conscious dissociative state?

    I'll consult my psychiatrist. I'm bipolar 1 so I can't take SSRI's.

It sucks when the body rebels against itself, taking the mind with it. I'm not sure what MDD is, hyperthyroidism is something I do understand (my thyroid was removed but meds for it made me feel awful so I quit them and feel fine). You've been dealing with with stuff for ages, I can relate. I...

Anyone have experience with tapering/reducing Paxil/Paroxetine for an elderly person?

Slow and steady wins the race when weaning off any SSRI but especially so with Paxil and in the geriatric population. Her doctor should able to create a weaning schedule for you.

    I can't tolerate antidepressants.

NASSA, I'm on that too, and tolerate it waaay better than the four SSRIs I've been on before, separate times obv. @katesells is it possible to speak to whoever prescribes to you n see if there's a difference group of antidepressants you've not tried yet?

    Decreasing SSRI's

After having a conversation with my dr I decided to decrease my dosage due to numbness. He suggested go slowly until i find the right dose for me. I started a few months ago with a small decrease and didnt notice anything. The last week I've started another decrease and the last few days I've...

Altering my core belief of being totally bad & unworthy no matter; corrosive self doubt

...but disgusting topic- Pharma had pushed for and achieved publication that were outright lies (according to him) about the effectiveness of SSRI's in depression treatment, then retracted years later (in legitimate circles, the AMA, publications in the Lancet etc). Which was when he started...

Has any one tried CBT for Insomnia? (CBT-I)

...get wide awake when getting into bed (it's that whole Skinner/Pavlov association thing.) I had a baby, post partum insomnia, bad reaction to an SSRI, and then high cortisol all played a role in this "wide awake assiciation" with bed time. I am working on all of these initial causes of poor...

    I can't tolerate antidepressants.

I also am sensitive to every SSRI I have tried. Wellbutrin was ok but I don't like taking it daily, I want my brain to figure things out to respond better to the environment. Also depression is something that i just don't allow myself to feel for too long because I used to get stuck there for...

    Psychiatrist is still recommending SSRIs...

No SSRI or SSNI worked for me. But I had to take them all to know that. Many SSRIs work for many people and many SSNIs work for many people and many people are helped with a dab or this and a dab of this. Seriquel XR 200 mg does wonders for me (BPD part of my diagnosis, still pending to be...

Military Think I am making my PTSD worse

...I am in an austere environment and I am the reg doc and heal thyself is just not something I am so good at. I get what you mean though, maybe an SSRI would help too. I guess the reason I have avoided dealing with drinking for so long is that I have an internal stop gap. I get a sick...

    Psychiatrist is still recommending SSRIs...

...wanted to continue to vape legally, but mostly because I wanted to see what life would be like, today, without the highest functional dose of an SSRI. Within a month, the biggest change I noticed was that everything started to bother me again. Everything. The second I'd begin to have an...

To medicate, or not to medicate

...more stablized. For me, an anti-psychotic (much lower doses then a pschotic would need) worked. But that was after going through every single SSRI and SSNI out there. Everyone has different meds that work for them. And some have a tad of this and a tad of that, that works. I would ask...

Study MDMA shows promise for post-traumatic stress treatment

The SSRI antidepressant class of drug - generally speaking - has never been intended for long term-usage. They're (generally) meant for 12 weeks, and then off you go. SNRIs, mood stabilizers, and anti-psychotics are different - they vary for long-term application. So, a lot depends on...

    Trazadone

I’m honestly not sure if either of them do, I’ll have to look. The Zoloft (sertraline) is an antidepressant/SSRI and the Buspar (buspirone) is an anti anxiety. I don’t see him again until mid June, but I can always contact him and get an earlier appt.

PTSD + GAD + Panic Disorder

..."worse" terror. That's my biggest problem. I have one set of people saying the medication (Paxil) will calm down my CNS and another camp of people (on the anti-meds forums) who say it does the opposite. They say that SSRI approved for PTSD are actually just like cocaine. So, I'm super duper...

Study MDMA shows promise for post-traumatic stress treatment

...(an anti psychotic at a lower dose then one would take if actually psychotic) has been a godsend for me for mood stability. Tried every single SSRI and SSNI without any help at all. Seriquel XR and the world changed. And it is very much a long term med for me. Forever? I dunno but going...

For those that have insomnia from PTSD/hypervigilance... did taking an SSRI improve your sleep?

...since I can't control my subconscious I'm (seemingly) unable to fix this problem... For others that have this "hypervigilance"... did taking an SSRI help your sleep/insomnia from it? I already take Remeron but it only helps for a few days at a time, and am wondering if adding an SSRI to it...

Sufferer Newly In The Trenches - Childhood Trauma

...for meds in general, usually I'm on the lowest dose. I most recently came off of Latuda, I never got past 20mg. In the past, I've been on each SSRI on the market & never had any luck. We did the Genesight genetic testing for psychotropic meds & it showed I wouldn't do well on any SSRI on the...

    Psychiatrist is still recommending SSRIs...

Have you tried escitalopram before? It’s meant to be a good choice for people that tend to get a lot of side effects. So, if an ssri had some benefits for you before, but too many trade offs, that might be worth considering. I’m not big on mood stabilizers for depression, in the absence of...

    Piecing things together

...news, I had a psychiatry consult and am about to start a couple meds for anxiety, hopefully these will replace the Xanax as I don't want to be taking that even occasionally. I wish I tolerated ssri meds better because I'm sure the ones that show promise for OCD would otherwise be helpful for me.

Finding the right medication after seratonin syndrome

I struggle with this too with my SSRI and am often not sure if it's mild serotonin syndrome or if I'm just having an awful PTSD day. How do you tell the difference?
