Oh. Okay, last post before I feel like I'm derailing a thread--it took the same amount of time as most over-the-counter sleeping meds to kick in for me (1-2 hours), then made me feel like if I didn't go to sleep right away I was going to literally pass out on the floor in a puddle of oooey-gooey Simon bits. :D So I guess it worked well, and I didn't feel as drowsy as I normally do taking, say, Unisom.

Lol... Thanks for the description. So sudden but delayed onset, not so much drowsiness next day. Sounds pretty good actually.

A slightly different view....... I've taken it some and felt hung over the next day. But it knocked me out. The guy I was living with at the time took it more often and ended up seeing things like "walking pancakes". That was scary! He sat up in bed and said (pointing) "What's that?" and then answered his own question with "It's a pancake!" What was even scarier was the time he looked at the red light on the clock radio and thought it was eyes..... It was hard enough to convince him it was ok that I was wondering what "Plan B" was going to be if I couldn't. He appeared to be asleep and didn't remember any of this the next day. There are reports of some truly strange behavior associated with Ambien, so I'd proceed with caution. Everyone doesn't have these problems, but it's not rare either.

Ouch. Thanks Scout, it's good to have different perspectives.

Last night at 3 a.m. I was actually fine. Don't know if I did anything differently to make it fine or if it was an anomaly, but I woke up, started in worrying about some things, told myself "this is survival fear" and lo and behold, fell asleep again.

Sorry, another ambien sidebar: if you have ever been a sleepwalker, don't take it. For whatever reason, people prone to sleepwalking are prone to really deep sleepwalking on ambien. Sleep walking, driving, just general functioning while sleeping.
