So I gave it a go, and it didn't work out. 8 or so sessions. I think that's enough!
My family is stressed out because of my frequent episodes. Yes, they are very bad, and yes, they started up when I went back to doing neurofeedback. Like clockwork, have a session, agitation kicks in soon thereafter, full blown episode within a day. I've had enough.
I'm tired of crack-arse therapists saying that neurofeedback has NO side effects. Such crap. There is no medical or therapeutic procedure on this planet that is perfectly safe for everyone with no bad effects whatsoever. I think these NF therapists need to get in touch with reality.
I told her I have a sensitive system but she didn't listen. She made the settings high. She later backed them down but it still agitates me. She doesn't even ask about symptom improvement from week to week. BIG red flag. My last therapist kept strict watch on my progress and side effects!
I should have run the other direction when she told me the procedure is 100% safe. What can I say? I wanted it to work!
She didn't listen to me about a lot of things. I've told her about my upcoming vacation in detail at least 5 times, but every week she says that while she's on vacation, I can see her substitute. Duh, lady, how many times do I have to tell you that we have the same vacation dates so I don't need an appointment with your substitute! Ok, I could understand not remembering if I told her once or twice, but after five+ times?!? It's her job to listen to me and she's shown that she can't. It doesn't exactly inspire confidence!
I have 6.5 weeks to get back to where I was pre-therapy. I'm crossing my fingers that I can get there.
