Good post topic and welcome.

"Permanently" over the edge? Nope, not so far and believe me I've h...
It does get better each day, as the shock wears off. Still painful, but maybe I needed something like this to happen to get me to start seeing a therapist.

I have complex trauma from childhood, which resulted in depression, anxiety attacks and self harming behaviour. Then six years ago I had another traumatic event. This second trauma made me even worse and I've not regained any ground since. I really try to help myself get better, but so far I've not had much lasting success. That's my experience, but were all unique so it must vary.

Sorry to hear this happen. This "friend" , are they medicated? Did something traumatic happen before event? Sometimes people go off for no reason at all and you really have to step back and emotionally distance yourself in your response to said incident (s). I practice this daily, because l live in a very diverse area with a wide range of social economic people who may be feeling very stressed in their life. I can think of many examples of this where l live.

I have a pretty hefty case of PTSD(hence why I'm here)

In late January of this year, I got in a fight with a blender and ended up having a wretched and horribly traumatic ER visit. I had a reaction to a drug called Ketamine and symptom wise, was set back months and months. It took about 6 months for my body and brain to calm down the event. Some if it was retraumatizing and some of it was new trauma.

I can say that yes, I can and have almost been able to move past it. We did emdr to help with the re-traumatizing portions of What happened. And talked through the fears and such that came out of the rest of what happened.

Sadly, it set me back time wise in my work overall while we coped with the event. It was horrific, and I left me in a huge mess....but it's better now.

Glad you are doing better, Panda Bear. I'm learning a lot of new terms and new methods from this point. Very helpful to learn of what types of therapies are available.

Hello Everyone!

Thank you for adding me to your forum. I looked through some of your posts, and you al...
I will give I my best opinion on it. #1 don't be scared of the world out there as in don't let PTSD jade you. Its easy to allow PTSD to define you and become all you encompass your entire life in. #2 DONT LET PTSD DEFINE YOU! Don't forget you are a valuable person. An individual that has alot to offer the world. #3 Take care of YOU first. If you're not working on you and taking care of you then it's much easier for things that happen in life like roadbumbs of other smaller type traumas or problems to manifest into a huge problem. Before you know it you're in an episode. You have to make sure working on you means keeping stressors under control as much as humanly possible while realizing life happens. Things that are unfavorable will happen and continue to happen for your entire life. Its how you deal with them or what you choose to do with them that matters. You unfortunately cant safe off your life for the current or future. Focus on being in the moment and being mindful of your actions and body language and response to things. You can do anything you put your mind to. I promise that! There's nothing that you can add to PTSD that will "push it over the edge". Your mind itself pushes things farther than need most times. Your mind is a powerful thing. It will run away with itself if you let it. Be atrong. Take life in one day at a time. Be in each moment. Let the small stuff roll off and remember you're a warrior. You can make it past and thru anything you set your mind to!
