Hi :)
I have been struggling for PTSD for most of my life, as far back as I can remember. The thoughts take over my life, stops me from proper relationships, friendships, work etc: I wanna know what are somethings you do to keep you're self pre occupied when the thoughts come back?

Thank you

Hi Kayla,

Welcome to the PTSD Forum. There are some great threads on grounding, handling anxiety, handling negative thoughts, and there should be something in there you will find helpful. Intrusive thoughts are difficult to deal with and can interfere with day-to-day life; but depending upon the types of thoughts there are many different approaches.

I hope you find what you are looking for.

Take care.
Debbie

Welcome to the forum Kayla. I would like to add that there is great peer support here. Glad that you have found this place. Will be looking forward to reading your posts.

I try something that challenges the brain and keeps it from wandering. TV and reading seem to make it too easy for my brain to "multitask" and start to wander. When I'm feeling like I'm becoming vulnerable to a round of flashbacks, I avoid any triggers, and focus on the most challenging thing I can find. For me, it's playing a musical instrument - something that does not come easily to me.
