This ever happen to you? Just before I open a door in my house I sometimes see a vision of something horrible that happened inside, like a suicide or death of a loved one. I know it probably did not happen, but it seems real and goes away as soon as I enter the room. My T says that it may be a type of panic attack or that opening a door may actually be a trigger itself. Anyway, I'm just wondering if any of us have had a similar experience.

i get triggered by opening doors, but just slightly different. when i go to open a door, right when i get to the door or have my hand on the door knob its like i almost feel the presence of someone right on the other side, to hurt me or something. i have to brace myself and at the very least be in a stance ready for attack. especially the front door... which is where the peep hole helps, though i have to make sure and look through it to the sides to be sure nobody is there. even doing this, actually opening a door makes my heart drop every time.

I understand the feelings mentioned here, both of the disturbing images and the feeling that someone is there. But if you think about it logically, a door is an object that you can't see whats beyond it. So if you are alert to protect yourself from being attacked, then walking through a door is percieved as a hazard, just as it would be if the threat was genuinely justified.
