Agree on checking out pursuing unemployability financial support and/or caregiver financial support, if that's also applicable here.

When my sufferer got to that point...I kicked him out, he became homeless and because of this got admitted into a mental health facility for 2 months. He is back home now but he is on medications and got set up with the VA to get ECT treatments and psychotherapy. His behavior is night and day. I hope that was the rock bottom he needed to want change. That is just my experience, so far. I've been with my sufferer for 13 years. It has been Hell.

Update:

Got him into both his therapist and psychiatrist right away after my posts. They agreed to add yet another drug to his cocktail. So now along with the Lexapro and Trazadone, they've added Wellbutrin.

I agree he could or should prob be on some sort of disability with being unable to keep a job due to his PTSD, however he's back out there applying and interviewing. He's also going to get his CNA as he now feels he wants to get into the medical field to help people. He starts classes on October 9th. I admire his tenacity but he is dyslexic and ADD as well, I'm not sure how he'll get through this course. I'm being supportive of his new endeavor, but as always, bracing for the roller coaster ride.

@ManagerWife Im glad the new med helped him. Sometimes it takes a while but the psych doctor can hit the right combo or dosage over time. I’ve been off the boards here for a couple weeks because my sufferer went off the deep end. Her psych doctor decided to add Abilify to her cocktail and the change was remarkable in about a week. It seems like she has an awareness of what she is doing and now can check herself before it runs away from her. Between that and my therapist working hard at giving me good coping skills, the roller coaster ride may arrive again but I may now have the strength to not get on it.
Take care.
