Hi Rachel,
The violence in your dreams is due to the trauma you endured. It’s unfortunate, but you were violated and your psyche has been injured. While you continue processing the grief of what happened to you, and facing your traumas the dreams will calm down. Don’t be afraid of your dreams because they are not real.
Most dreams are symbolic and don’t mean what they are showing you. However, the violence is real because you felt it, but it doesn’t mean your going to kill some one.
Actually killing the abuser in a dream is a good dream because it shows your facing the fears and killing them off. It’s hard to understand this at first but you will see how it works, if you stick with watching your dreams.
I eventually found peace when I was able to kill my attackers instead of them killing me. It doesn’t scare me because it’s a dream and I look at it as a movie while awake. When I have nightmares and wake up from them that is a whole other story, but once I calm down I am able to find the meaning then I am OK, and move on.
Nightmare #2
The strangers are an old way of thinking from your past. Windows represent the ability to see beyond yourself and broaden your horizons. This means your growing spiritually and healing.
These two strangers are you and you’re the one on your knees pointing a gun at your head (in the past when you live at that old apartment) maybe you wanted to end it back then, but because the guns where plastic you didn’t want to really end your life. (Just the pain).
When you loaded the gun you are ready to kill these fears and you do that to a certain extent. Since they were dead, that would mean part of your fear has been dealt with, also with them being alive, this means that part of the fear still haunts you.
So now your walking around feeling alive some days and dead others and as an added annoyance your locking this all up inside of yourself. But the windows show that you’re starting to let it go. This is a nightmare, but it is showing progress in my opinion.
Side note: I had a dream where I shot my son in the head because I thought he was going to shoot me. After I shot him he had a red hole in his head with no bleeding (just like you described, and he was still walking and talking). I told him I was sorry for killing him and I told him I thought he was going to kill me, that’s why I did it. He understood.
This dream really disturbed me because it was my son, and unfortunately I am afraid of him in real life (however, it’s not his fault, it’s my own irrational fears)
We have similar dream symbols. Interesting!
Take care
Tammy
