I just got her today, to keep my mind on something positive. She is 6 weeks old, the cutest little thing ever! She is sitting in my lap right now.... I don't have any way to share a photo, but she is basically brownish gray with a white tummy and black eyes. A friend says she had a cage for me. I am happy....

Aww, she sounds cute! That might be a good pet for me. I love animals but I don't have the time or energy for a dog and I'm allergic to cats. I might have to investigate this!
I hope she brings you much joy and love!

I've been reading up on them, they like green leafy veggies and they need vitamin C just like us, so you can feed them orange slices or even give them vitamin chewable C tabs, they say one quarter of a 500 mg tab per day. I bought some feed that has the C in it, so I will not be too concerned about it. She loved the apple and celery I gave to her today. They said in the articles not to introduce too many new veggies at once. I will buy some kale tomorrow though, as that was the first green they listed as good for her.

Timothy hay and dried alfalfa, you can get them cheaper in bulk at a feed store. What we did was give them any scraps we had when cutting up fruits and vegetables for ourselves. Our guinea pigs loved carrot tops and the end pieces of apples and squash! Enjoy her sweet company!

She will soon learn the sound of the refrigerator opening and start to squeal thinking she is going to get fed, my daughter had 3 at one time. Of course I got to clean the cages. Aquariums work well too. Good luck they are sweet creatures.

I just had an anxiety attack, realizing how much bedding is going to cost me. This is going to be more expensive than I thought! I just sunk about $65 on a cage.... and I live on Social Security Disability money from the government alone, no other income. What did I get my$elf into!

We always used it for hamsters with no problems mixed with other bedding. I wouldn't use like the shiny magazine type paper with lots of ink on it, but envelopes tend to be quite plain and not much print on them?
