News Antibiotic To Possibly Treat / Prevent Ptsd?

Hmmm. Interesting. Not sure what to make of that. We already over prescribe antibiotics but I must admit that I'd chow down on Doxy if it really worked.

I would question the link of bacteria to PTSD. Of course it could have other effects in the body, but what exactly or how exactly would it influence PTSD? Dont know....

Fear Extinction is definitely a topic of study. What it is, where in the brain it is, how one can get it to kick in...it's interesting that they may have stumbled upon a piece of the puzzle with this particular drug. As far as I'm aware, most of the fear studies are done in a compressed period of time - so, it's a recent stimulus that they are trying to quell, rather than one that is weeks, months, years old.

Reminds me about the 'phobia drug', which has had success on older phobias. I think phobias and fears aren't the same (neurologically), but it's interesting stuff,..I'll see if I can find the article.

If this is a real thing, I don't care if it resulted in a bout of fecal vomiting. (A real thing, that's exactly what it sounds like...)
Followed by a week of running nude through the streets, shouting obscenities while stuffing berries into my nose.

It'd still be a better trade-off than the 12+ years of PTSD has been.

My initial highly jaded gut reaction is no, hell no, without having the current attention span to read and absorb the whole article. It feels, to me, based on my many unpleasant experiences seeking help through medication, like an attempt to further dull the senses while steadily knocking out other unseen and much needed support systems within our bodies that we blindly rely on for overall health and wellness, very frequently leading to needing even more medical interventions ahead to help deal with and patch up all the side effects.

Are they going to provide accurate, helpful, and sustainable education to go along with it so folks who most likely already have a very disruptive digestive system thanks to the current food supply can learn how to healthily restore their gut flora, etc. that'll be wiped out in this process? I doubt it, as they don't generally offer that kind of information, especially unsolicited, with the massive amounts of antibiotics and such that they prescribe now. Again, this is just my opinion based on my unpleasant experiences and what I've observed through the years of being immersed and trying to figure myself out.

It seems much more likely to me that there will eventually be a recall of some sort and/or a commercial saying, "Did you try Doxycycline to help prevent/treat your ptsd and suffer substantial losses? If so, call us today and we can help you get your part of the legal settlement." Everyone's mileage varies, of course, and many meds have gratefully helped many beings live more comfortably, so if it genuinely and healthily helps some, may it be, and may it be soon. I just hope it's done kindly, wisely, and with additional meaningful-to-each-individual supports that are accessible to all who need it.
