Honestly, I think being on the medication hampered my recovery rather than helped it.
Its the same thing I hear from people in active therapy who believe marijuana is helping them... to when they stop it and try without it, to suddenly find how much it was hindering their recovery. Without it they started taking leaps and bounds in therapy and their own self help journeys.

Things have a time and place, no doubt about it... but longevity use is abuse IMO vs helping cope to work on the problems then getting third party crap out of your life.

Scary, though, when you see the current Mary Jane push.

I don't doubt that it can help, but when taken too far-------I mean it's not like the stoner stereotype is a complete fallacy. :-/

I agree with this 100%. I was on them for far too long. Perhaps most shockingly was that my GP more or less said that being on medication boosted my chances of getting extra coursework time and exam allowances at uni because it was concrete "proof" that I have a mental health problem. As it turns out it makes no difference at all; I've been off them a while and my status regarding uni hasn't changed. I can honestly say that my work in therapy has improved and I've been able to implement the CBT techniques far more effectively now I'm not simply flatlined/numbed out by the medication, because that's all they did really, they dulled everything, not just the depression.
