I have anxiety and i always struggle with my breathing when i feel uncomfortable in situations or when i am around a lot of people.... for me, just stepping aside and taking really deep breaths in and out will help, relaxing music and sitting in a cold room helps a lot too. I hold my breath because I'm getting tired of breathing. I'm just taking a break from the hard work of breathing.I've noticed also that I hold my breath. Why the heck do we do that?!?
It's really great that you tried, and kept trying. I know it's sort of cold comfort...but getting breath-work to be effective and making it a strong tool in the toolbox, takes time and application. I dunno if I recommended this earlier on the thread, but I got a lot of benefits from an app called breathe to relax (B2R) when I was starting out with this stuff. It's free, or was last time I checked.
Here’s something funny for you... Tonight we were intimate and he noticed I was breathing unevenly,(yes I said I was ok to continue when he checked in with me), so he said ok E will you do some deep breathing exercises with me? So no, I can never escape from PTSD calming exercises, not even in the middle of making love. :hilarious:
