Anyone Else Losing Facebook Friends Like Money At The Casino?

I packed face book in a few years ago, and had a problem getting them to delete my account. I thought about it, and realised just how much information I had posted about myself and my life.

So, I felt a bit safer after I left the site, and haven't joined any similar site, well apart from this one, but being on here has really helped me over the past couple of years.

My progress since joining here has been amazing, considering I don't get help for any other source.

Can I ask what you're trying to gain by arguing with people on Facebook? (I'm really going somewhere with this, just want to get a better idea of what your motivation is.)

When I was drinking and partying.... I had tons of friends. Not so much anymore. It's not that I dislike people, or have trust issues. I'm just a homebody, I don't like to go out anymore, I'm to freaking old, and there isn't anything to do where I live that would interest me to go to meet people anyway...

That sounds just like me! And I am 35. Not sure if I'd call that old but partied myself out by about 28 and became a homebody after that.

Facebook, in my world, is a warzone. It is where my family shit a f*ck load of drama and tear each other to bits. No thank you! I "dumped" facebook about the same time as I dumped my family. They can have facebook!

When people don't comment on 5 shot cops in 30 some hours, but post rants on the state of Kayne....or the f*cking election yet again...in Canada....
Honestly, I think it's because people like problems to have an input on. Without any risk of real ramifications for saying something cruel or dumb.

US politics. Near enough to make you seem relevant, far enough to make you seem worldly. But also. Near enough it's easy to learn the most basic info. Far enough that nobody will hold you accountable for saying something extreme right or left wing.
Not to mention, far enough that ultimately you have no way of actually doing anything about it. So you're free to flap your gums, talking about what you would do better, without having to actually do it.

Things like 5 dead cops, in Canada no less. It's suddenly not so far away. Worse, you might actually have to do something. Better off to bury your head in the sand left in Kanye's wake.

You know what that nonsense makes me do?
I avoid Facebook like it's going to give me the plague.

That's my theory on that anyways. For what it's worth.

I don't argue per say.... I mean it's near impossible.... But I'm guilty of responding. I'll see a ridic...

Ok well "argue" was an immaterial word that got you sidetracked in my question.

What is your reason for being on Facebook and doing whatever it is that you are doing? What is it that you gain?

Because really, you're there doing whatever because it has some sort of benefit to you. What is that benefit?

Oh man I'm not entirely sure Eve.. maybe because most are from my high-school, which I really enjoyed at the time, it's a nostalgic thing?

I posted a video of a cat that walks like dressage horse, and everyone liked me again. So I think I shall stick to cute animal videos and try to retain my last 48 pals.

I don't even think I lost that much in a casino, ever, so my cut off social networks people score and money dropping score are about equal these days.

In a more serious vein: Twitter amuses me, or is someplace I check to see what's talked about & where, not really somewhere I'd use for socializing. Facebook I was done with a few years ago so it's more like dropping people by waves, and other media I use are mostly to keep in touch with specific interests circles and not minding if we fade out of touch there that badly.

So another in the 'not minding so much' bag. It's not a big loss, more an interesting comparison of trends and a reflection on how much I changed with time, to me.
