Actually, I have been within indigenous communities in the NT when police have had to take action, and let me just say, once again... the Police were attacked first, then they took action. Yes, they do approach them after experience with far less tolerance, because experience has dictated to them they quickly turn violent and attack. Seen it all myself thanks, first hand.
Don't start me on aboriginal rights... because I have seen it all for myself, within the communities. They get whatever they want for free... then destroy it, then go ask for it again and/or at the same time cry that their living standards are so poor... after which they just ripped up all the floor boards in front of me to burn for wood, instead of going and cutting down some tree's a few hundred meters away to burn instead.
After they got a brand new car given to their community, then rolled it, got it running again, rolled it again, got it running again, drove it into other cars, buildings, rolled it further times... until it didn't run any longer, then demanded another because they were hard done by.
Wrong person to be preaching to about such rights when I have been within those communities myself and witnessed it all myself when with the Army. Walking through the streets in Darwin, next minute to be jumped by a group of them, then they tell the police they got bashed for no reason. The police fortunately weren't that stupid and told us this was a regular occurrence when called.
People are not all innocent as they claim when the same things repeat over and over. If it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck and looks like a duck, chances are... its a duck.
Middle of NT on operations, aboriginal women trying to sell themselves to us, not for money, but for alcohol. Their morals are so high they also have their teenage kids with them... selling them for alcohol.
Please be careful who you preach to about ethical moments... I have seen some really good things within aboriginal cultures in Australia; I have also seen far more worse things within them. The bad typically outweighs the good, witnessed first hand by spending time in and around such place, let alone the atrocities I have watched other cultures perform. You want to see real classy, then take a trip to Port Moresby or Indonesia... then you'll see a whole new breed of violence, despair, torture and death.
Then we can add the lies coming from the protest spokes people, which just aren't helping there own cause, first saying they were given no warning to remove themselves on TV, then stating to news outlets that they rejected the offer given previously to continue as daytime protests only, without the camping out aspect.
No warning given: [DLMURL]http://au.tv.yahoo.com/sunrise/video/-/watch/26965107/police-storm-sydney-occupy-protestors/[/DLMURL]
Oh yer... sorry, we rejected those notices and ignored the police direction: [DLMURL]http://www.skynews.com.au/businessnews/article.aspx?id=677117&vId=2797360&cId=Business[/DLMURL]
Again, Australian law does not allow for ignorance of Police direction when laws are broken. No excuses... Police were clear, protest during the day and into the evening, but DO NOT camp out overnight.
And the biggie for Australia... there is no such nonsense as free speech in Australia, never has been. Its not part of our laws. If you tell a cop to f*ckoff, you're going to jail if they want to put you there. Activists confuse American culture and laws with Australian culture and laws when protesting. They aren't the same...
I am all for protesting and having your say, you just have to do it the right way, not the wrong way which is being done by some!
Then we have the beloved American occupy Wall Street movement, who are fighting capitalism itself, to only become involved in the exact corruption by allowing Unions to support them with resources in trade to help the Unions with some business issues they have: [DLMURL]http://biggovernment.com/lstranahan/2011/10/21/occupy-and-unions-combine-forces-against-private-business-in-their-war-on-america/[/DLMURL]
Its lost touch already with the big picture... the very movement itself has so swiftly shifted to capitalism by supporting Union motives.
The effect on business was discussed on Sunrise Friday, if memory serves me correctly... how some businesses in the vicinity had already closed up shop and sent workers home without pay for several days because they were losing money due to the protesters covering their business fronts, thus entry to the premises. If it continued, job losses were already being prepared for... some businesses had already dismissed some employee's due to no work. More than likely they were casuals... still lost jobs due to stupidity.
