News Anyone Involved In The Occupy Wallstreet? Or Another City?

I just saw this on the facebook page of a local small business and it really struck home with me. I always prefer to give my money to a locally owned business rather than a huge corporation.

This reminds me of a small town in which some of my family lives. They opened a Super WalMart there and a Target as well. Quite soon afterwards, a huge number of locally-owned small businesses went out of business. Some of them were 2nd and 3rd generations businesses that just couldn't compete with the big box chains. All four independent hardware stores, the independent furniture store, many clothing stores, and grocery stores - all gone. The little main street was decimated and half of it is boarded up.

People complained and wondered why the businesses died but they still refuse to make a connection between their shopping habits and the death of their local economy. Unemployment is in the double digit range.

RICK SCOTT, governor of Florida, wants drug testing for those who receive government checks...okay, YOU GO FIRST!!

I've read the the results of these tests so far and this program will not save much money at all. I believe that the failure rate was 1% to 2%, which is far lower than the national average of 12% drug use. I do think that it is unfair to only test poor people that receive government assistance. If they really believe that people that receive money from the government should be tested for drugs, than test EVERYONE. Every politician and every employee and every executive of every bank that received TARP funds.

By the way, Rick Scott owns a chain of health clinics that does what??? Oh, yeah, they offer drug testing for profit. Nice.

I've actually been able to follow raw-video footage without a whole lot of PTSD symptoms getting triggered. I think EMDR and other treatment experiences has helped tremendously for that kind of stuff.

Reading biased news reports and toxic news comments has been triggering for me, and I've been working through that. Now I am able to report violations of acceptable speech policies to newspaper websites and have been involved in having ALL instances of hate speech removed from the approximately 450 comments on an article at the San Fransisco Chronicle reporting how a driver intentionally struck two pedestrians (it was on film from several different angles) during the Oakland California (USA) general strike on November 2. It feels good to be able to report and remove hate speech instead of being paralyzed and damaged by it. It also feels like the beginning of something broader and more helpful to wider community for me. I think that if newspapers aren't able to control the amount of hate speech that their readers post (in direct violation of user agreements), then they should have moderated or no comments on their articles.

Hey - for those of you interested - I found this great Occupy group on Facebook "Occupy-Mental-HealthOccupy-Psychiatry" --- they have some great links addressing issues concerning the rights of, treatment of & attitudes towards people w/ mental health issues. I'm not allowed to post a link because I'm not on here enough - if you "Google Occupy Mental Health" it will pop up

This is not America... you cannot shut the door on Police or ignore them, as per our laws... so those who ignore their directions will endure heavy consequences and deserve such consequences.
What is meant by that? You think they've been too lenient with the protesters or something?

I went to occupy Oakland while Michael Moore was there. Now It is Occupy Frankfurt. I actually do not become upset or anxious or anything but excited for the occupy movements- especially in the USA. I am not sure why. Maybe because one of my abusers was a police officer and it is somehow /subconsciously my way of standing up to him. Or maybe it is because I am more afraid of what is happening to the people in the States and the police are less of a threat than the facts.

Occupy Foreclosed homes....

Everyone seems so inclined to go back to the "Good Old Days" how about the 1930's when neighbors helped neighbors keep the banks from kicking them out on the streets? Hmmm...like what's been happening here for the past several years. It's happening now.. Check it out.
