Anyone see people that are not there?

I think it’s just worth turning it around in your mind a bit.

I’ve had times when I fully believed I was seeing something that should not be ‘there’. It’s disconcerting. But fundamentally, it’s a moment of flashback.

I’ve also seen things that weren’t there, that were totally unrelated to traumatic events. Usually in periods of intense stress and low sleep. I think it’s my mind getting jumbled with peripheral movement - it’s definitely not psychosis.

And, there’s psychosis as well. My experience of that was immersive. So, the entire world around me went weird. But psychosis can work as you are describing, too.

It’s just worth figuring out if it could be related to memory, first, before going down the road of wondering if it’s paychosis.

joeylittle said everything needed. Well done on posting about it Faith. Is there anything else you have experienced like this or is this the only one? You said if you are honest then there is a chance it is. Do you want to say more? No pressure at all. Take your time.

Thanks for asking. I’ve been afraid ever since I posted this. I will post about it in my diary when/if I can.

I really appreciate you and Joey reaching out though.

Yep. Never have been able to figure out why but it seems to happen more when I'm really stressed. It's been going on so long that I don't really think much about it anymore other than ....crap - stress check! I think it's probably trauma related - things/people my brain may have seen during the traumas who weren't involved and may have just been in the area. Now and then it throws it back to me.
And yes - I'm also glad you posted this. I'm guessing its more common than we think.

Yes. I see things out of the corners of my eyes. Usually it is a kind of shadow, not a solid thing. Sometimes it is kind of like the shape of a person, other times it is like a spider (I have great fear of them and an experience to back that up)! I have other diagnoses, so this could be because of those, but these things might be flashbacks too. I have never been sure.
