Yes, it's very different now, you wouldn't have had thirty year olds collecting comic book figurines and riding skateboards etc in the 1930's but you do now. There's a dumbing down of the population, that's for sure.

I think that two movies come to mind, one is Demoliton Man which is pretty ironic, and the other is really crass but Idiocracy is a total explanation comedy about the dumbing down of people. Just my opinion.

There's a dumbing down of the population, that's for sure.

I will disagree with that versus people are now more open to explore things that interest them, that they're passionate about. I don't think a comparison of the 30's to now can be close to fair. If you want to do that, then we need to start using all aspects, not just pick and choose what suits.

Yes, I know, it wasn't a fair comparison to make. I think it depends where you live, too. Where I am, I certainly see and hear a lot of evidence of the dumbing down.

It is a loss of common sense that I see mostly, I think that there are a lot of good people in the world that are proactive. But I see it in the way I have witnessed people treating each other. I think for the most part that civility is dead now. Rarely do I see conversations in a heated discussion respectfully agree to disagree on both sides and go on to a win win situation.

How many cars do you see in total versus how many lacking common sense as you view it? Can you put it in perspective to a quantity?

And it seems you both have differing views on dumbing down. I would agree with the defined version, before even having looked at it, as that was my understanding of it. But I fail to see how dumbing down applies to driving.
