My boyfriend and I recently broke up lately and I do not know how to handle it. I love him with all my heart and accept him for who he is. He suffers from PTSD from child related trama.
We have talked about our break up and we both said we believe we are meant to be and that everything will be ok. Neither of us wanted and he explained this was the hardest thing he has ever had to do. He left because he still has feelings for someone from his past, years before we even met. We have been dating for a year and she has been out of the picture for a long time. He says lately he misses her and needs to take time to figure out why these feelings are bothering him. I understand and in my mind its him processing moving on and closure. He has been attending therapy for his PTSD so I understand they most likely brought out some emotions because they had a serious past and actions may have contributed to his PTSD.
I know a lot about PTSD through talking with him, friends and lots of research but I can't find a lot of information about what im struggling with. I do not want to be the crazy girl who waits around when her man cant help but love someone else but I think the feelings may be PTSD related. Now is not the right time for me and him to talk about this. I want to stand by him.
Anyone, Do you think that these feelings coming back up could be PTSD related? Like therapy is bringing up old feelings he didn't think existed anymore and he is struggling to move past them. Has this happened to anyone (on either side)?
