I answered yes, but only to overrule the thoughts in my head right now. I've been interested in visual arts since I could hold a crayon. In recent years I have expanded from drawing to painting, textiles, metal work, photography, and anything else that allows me to create. I've also dabbled in poetry which has lead me to great success (a free trip to France, Ottawa, and a nice cash prize).

I've been commissioned for some rather profitable pieces. And have had many other people come over for a visit, and end up giving me money for a painting, and insist that I sell more. So after much emotional work, I started to sell more art.

It's still a struggle for me though. I can't take compliments at all. And I feel as though they are buying my art just to be nice. "Oh she's the sick one, cheer her up". It is a huge internal conflict for me that I am desperately trying to overcome.

My therapist has seen some of my work and insists I make a career of it. But again, I turn inwards and do what I do best, degrade myself and my work. I hope this can change with more therapy work.

I voted yes. 17 years in live radio and TV production, I have done still photography for 25 years. I have authored 2 books now. I am grateful to have these outlets.

Sewing, needlework, making jewelry out of recycled items, photography, was just beginning to get into mixed media (not sure what you call it). Songwriting a little with my ex.

I think my creativity is dead now.

Hi there,

I've been a dancer for about 15 years. I haven't danced since my partner took his own life one year ago. I have, however, consistently written and created some art (which isn't a new thing..) Writing has been a solid coping mechanism for me. I've also taken up yoga as a destress/healing ritual.

Yes I am very artistic. I found that it was the first place I could go to where I could express myself. The Trauma Unit I spent a year and a half in had all sorts of art programs. I particularly liked the Jewelry work I learned how to do. Handling the beads helped me feel successful even just being able to focus on one thing at a time and then see the results quickly. This was the beginning of me learning the value of Baby steps.
Years later I still do jewelry work, and nothing smells better than crayons!

This was interesting to see...good poll.

I am artistic, I voted 'yes'. I write, sing, write music. I love to sing, mostly...it's one of the things that will move emotions through me no matter how 'flat' I feel.

Yes I love to paint and it keeps me sane. When I was young we lived in a remote area and my sisters and I spent much of our time wandering aound in the woods. That helped to keep us from going crazy. So I decided to be an artist specializing in wilderness art.

I'm an aspiring writer and photographer. I've been writing all my life and in the past year have discovered a love for photograhy. As the result of photography, I feel I will never see the world in the same way as before. Everything now has become some form of beauty and I see beauty in things others don't. It's been amazing discovering photography. I've had some stuff published in the past year, but would love to be able to make a living from writing and/or photography.

My Type Of Art

I sew.

My background is historical/theatrical costuming but I can sew anything.

If I have a drawing I can use fabric to make banners, wall hangings, 3D objects. I once went through a bear stage, teddy bears.

I make the bears first then I costume them. I made one that won the costume compitition at the Baltimore Zoo. It was a bear wearing a white dinner jacket with a gun and british passport. He was Bear, James Bear, 007 and a half.
