I've given up on anything resembling dieting. Both my parents were overweight from childhood on, and it's just my genetic destiny to be a fat caterpillar. Plus I'm very weird about food. If I can't have what I like, then I just won't eat at all, and what I like mostly consists of carbs. Offer me a selection of low-carb, healthy foods and I'll decide going hungry looks more appealing. I've heard a lot of people say "oh you just have to prepare it right". Yeah, sorry, but no amount of preparation is going to make chicken breast and vegetables taste like pasta and cake.

I've been a vegetarian for almost 6 years now. So, yeah, no meat. I try not to get too much into dieting dieting (counting calories, weighing myself, etc.) because I had trouble with anorexia/bulimia for a while and I just don't want to trigger that again.

Today I am doing a juice fast, which includes chicken broth too.

Usually I limit my calories to 1300 per day. Today it looks like I will actually go over this, even though I am only consuming liquids. I have worked at getting 100% juices, like fresh apple cider, pineapple juice, etc. I'm doing this to clean out my system and I do this about once a year.

On my days now, I usually count calories, keep them in a little book that I have on my kitchen table. I like eggs, cheese, soy milk, yogurt drinks or buttermilk. I don't eat meat unless I am out at a restaurant. Then I choose chicken. This is a once a week occasion. Oh, and I eat at our church's fellowship meal once a week too. They doo sometimes serve meat, which I will eat, but just as often they serve beans, rice and greens with cornbread. Oh, and there is often peach cobbler, which is about the only dessert I will eat. I usually don't have dessert, because it will shoot me up above my 1300 calories for the day and I don't want to do that! Peach cobbler is a weakness that I have, however. Oh, and one time they served a blueberry cobbler, that was nice too.

I have lost weight from 187 to165 pounds and will continue until I get to my proper BMI. I will probably go down farther than that too, depending upon how I feel.

I've been on a gluten free diet for a couple of years (diagnosed as celiac) and I'm transitioning to a vegan diet from a vegetarian one.
