Most importantly in my opinion we should never fall into the habit of dividing the world and all its members into victims and perps. Its only a percentage of the population that are either which is an obvious fact to anyone not traumatised. People are people no matter what gender. Human beings. A percentage of people are perps and a percentage of people have endured experiences where they have been a victim. Anyone thinking all members of a certain gender are automatically a perp or victim is doing so because of trauma or something else.

I think you're confusing some totally horrible f*cked-up men for all men. All men do not pretend that rape is an accident. All men do not rape. Rapists rape.

I was sexually abused by a woman. I think I understand where you're coming from; sometimes I do think the worst of ALL women - that ALL women are horrible and all women are abusers. But then I remember that's the PTSD talking. Most women are perfectly fine people who would never abuse anyone. And the same is true for men.

Where does it say "all of us"? Please show us where it says that because it seems to be showing only on your screen. Sorry, but your ignorance is too great for any intelligent person to have a conversation with you.

It’s already been discussed, at length, that when someone says “men are rapists..” or “women are lying scheming c*nts...” how it reads to most people is all men / all women.

That may very well have not been what you intended to convey, and we’ll take that as met. If you meant to express “some men use the excuse” and simply made an error, it’s no big deal. Mistakes & misunderstandings happen.

However...

Cognitive distortion forms the backbone of PTSD. Whether you know it or not, all moods and behavioral patterns originate from your cognitions-- your thoughts. The first thing that happens is a thought, and then a mood or behavior occurs.

When you allow an area of your life to become dominated by negative thoughts, you'll come to believe things are as bad as you -- frequently incorrectly-- imagine them to be.

This leaves us at identifying cognitive distortions and rationalizing them.

Primary cognitive distortions (negative thinking styles)

This is a PTSD site. Members call each other out when they see things like “women wearing short skirts deserve to be raped, that’s why I don’t wear short skirts” or “men are rapists”, because more often than not, these are statements made by people struggling with their own core beliefs, cognitive distortions, stressors, & triggers. But sometimes, it’s just a miscommunication.

I’m not going to lock this thread, issue threadbans, or instruct that people start a new thread if they wish to continue this aspect of the discussion, at this time. Myself or another member of staff will do so if this degenerates into more lashing out and insults.
