Sorry to hear that happened to you. I think you have to work on your problems every single day without fail if you're not already doing that. I would recommend you learn about adrenal fatigue, self massage, tai chi, stretching and anything that helps with stress relief.

If you're comfortable getting a gun or tazer or pepper spray I would recommend that you do it since then you will know you don't have to be so afraid. Of course you will need to get some training with it too.

Avoid whatever is triggering you if you can. If you can't then try some mental judo on your thoughts. If you get a weird thought then try and think of something similar sounding to it to replace that thought. Whenever the weird thought comes then change it. All the thoughts you have are yours and you may be able to change them.

I've never been that afraid for personal reasons. I've had to face down an armed man but I had a rifle when I did it. I've been bombed at and shot at. Of course I don't think you should compare your trauma with others. Your trauma is your own and you don't have to be ashamed of yourself just because others seem to have had worse experiences.
