I'm crying Anni....seriously.....I am just floored at what you said. Even went in a read it to my husband.
I haven't drawn in decades other than to doodle. This portrait and the two posted earlier are my first attempts at drawing people so you can see why I am crying.....I used to draw still-lifes and animals when I was in high school a little bit. I painted a few pictures in my twenties and that's about it. I did do one charcoal when I was about 11 yrs old that a friend of my dad's wanted to buy for $500, but Dad would sell it. I never knew about it until about 20 years ago. Dad framed it and has it on the wall at his place.
My Dad majored in architecture and minored in art. He was always working with some medium (oil, charcoal, clay. metal sculptures) and he would sometimes teach me and let me try to create something. My Dad is quite good, but my mom couldn't stand the mess he made so he destroyed almost all of his work and quit for years. He did get back into it (mostly photography) years later and has sold some of his work.
So, I do believe I have raw talent inherited from him ;o) My mom was a concert percussionist in the symphony. My brother got her musical talent :)
Thank you sooooo much Annie (and everyone). You are really encouraging me to pursue this and see if I can't take it somewhere. My therapist has been suggesting it too ;o)!!!
WOW.........BIG BREATH!
