I found this on a Canadian web site a few years ago, that deals with GAD & Panic Attacks and found a lot of truth in it. Also I called the author on the use of his article and was told by him that he posted it for people to use and share. He is a nice guy, even though his site does not deal with PTSD. He did give my a free membership to his site for a year. I had been misdiagnose with GAD & Panic Attacks. I was given an SSRI, that I only took 2 of, as they made me real sick. But that is part of the game, thay can make you sick for a number of weeks when starting them. Then turn you into a f*cking zombie and when you want to get off them, they will make you a lot sicker than when you stated them. Note: In the last year or so a large number of psychologist and psychiatrists are no longer giving RX's for them. This has been in the news.

As you will see in his article is the truth about SSRI's. You will find one that I thought was the SSRI buster of all time. Did you know that there is no known test to measure the amount Serotonin in your body? I did not. If you would like to read first hand, the experiences from people that have taken them. Where are my manners. Shoulda thanked you for the article, JR. I've seen some studies that debunk the SSRI myth, but this one goes further in depth. Haven't been able to convince my Vet Center counselor about SSRIs, maybe this will get him thinking.

Brother I appreciate the thanks, but it's more important to me that your got it and can ues the article. We vets need to be Real Proactive in the meds we are given......All the pharmaceutical companies care about is making $$$$ and as the article says
they will lie, cheat, anything to sell their crap......

This was the final stroke with me and the VA shrinks. Usually, my body tells me what works and doesn't. The VA started shoving SSRIs at me early, right after they cut me off of benzos, I'd tell them the meds not only weren't working but were making me sick. "Haven't taken them long enough". I'd do a year, say the hell with it and quit them. They'd put me on another. Same, same. Another. And another. Until I'd taken just about all of them.

Finally, they hammered me with Risperadone. If you look at the side effects, then you look at Arsenic.....

So, I went private. I'm back on benzos. Yes, yes, I know, the downstream long term effects. But to me, it's worth it to have a half-assed decent life now, even if I become a vegetable afterwards.

Besides, after the life I've had and what I've done to this old airframe, it's amazing I'm still vertical.

Sarg, you hit the nail on the head. The VA does not want to fix us, just cover it up. They gave me I think 6 shit pills, that made me sick and did not work. Had one old Doc put me on 4mg of Alprazolam (Xanax) a day. I do that for about 6+ month and started to feel like shit. Get a new Doc and she says why are you taking 4mg of Alprazolam? She than starts backing me off, and gives me Buspirone HCL. Was on that crap well over a year, with 0.50 mg Alprazolam 4X a day.....I slowly titration off Buspirone (this is real bad shit, that may have life long effects after use)

Like you am still taking the benzos. I take 0.50 mg Alprazolam 4X a day. Some days I only take 3, on a really bad day I may take 1mg. Like you I am up tp speed on this and it's long term effects, but it does the job. The thing I hate the most is the f*cking short term memory loss. Drives the wife nuts.......

It's guy's like you that the VA drug dealers should have some sit down time with. Maybe some of those manufactures could be invited as well. I don't do anti depressants but I see where they are invaluable to some. It's a great that we can discuss it and compare notes.
