Ask a foreigner

That’s fury for you, right there @blackemerald1
:-)

@berlinda Oh, mine too...when we were kids, my sister and I were always pleading with him to wear a different shoe or at least take the bloody socks off!

I think Brits dither more than our European neighbours. As an example, I give you watching a British couple trying to choose a pair of sunbeds on the beach. They shuffle up every row, point to various options, look up at the sun, look back to the beds, look at the sun again...shuffle round the rows again...look at the sun again...then finally commit but still look uncertain...

Italians, Spanish, Greek, Dutch, Germans, French...stride quickly and purposefully across the beach and sit down on a bed. Boom!

Partner and I spend a lot of time saying things like ‘let’s just sit down now because we’re looking embarrassingly English!’

What is it that gives us away?! (Without hearing us speak)
Pale skin, discomfort .... and most European nationalities just have a "look." I can't describe it.
But where are your coffee machines?? Where are the Brazillian, Italian, whereever blends that you get with REAL coffee? And why do they always use drip coffee?
Drip coffee is faster and cheaper. Those other machines are for the real connoisseurs, plus they are expensive. I just want a cup of coffee fast and cheap - it doesn't have to be fancy. You can get a good drip coffee maker that will last years for under $30 and a big tub of relatively good coffee for five bucks.
I'm not keen on marmite, but I did indeed mean marmalade. Tried it several times over the years but I'm just not a fan of it.
I dislike marmalade too. Keep your orange peel out of my jam!

Marmalade is lovely stuff :singing:

With shreds preferably too.
Used to like lime marmalade with crunchy peanut butter in a wholemeal toast sandwich.
Back when I was a young vegetarian. :)

I useother nut butters with marmalade. Almond butter and marmalade is a match made in heaven: think of orange and almond cake. :).

Instant coffee is horrible and only people who are truly desperate for coffee will drink that stuff here.

Agreed, but I use a stove top machina or a French press. I have a large French press for 12 cups , a normal one for four. A small for 1 large, two smallish cups. Similarly stove tops in different sizes. But really while the French press is super easy the stove top makes the best coffee of all and that can be turned in to anything or drink as is for espresso.

Filter coffee machines confuse me ?.

And creamer is from the devil’s nipples. Yuck.

^But you only buy them once. The coffee beans are not expensive compared to pods. Lots of people here have machines and are neither connoisseurs or well off. Takes about two mins to make a coffee in a machine - faster than drip by far.

^But it's orange marmalade or orange and lemon marmalade. It's gotta be there to be marmalade. It's not really jam, it's marmalade.

And creamer is from the devil’s nipples.

^Is the devil really a woman? :wtf: idk :sorry:

Without wanting to sound too righteous: there are black Europeans. There are Europeans of Asian decent. In Europe people don’t tend to precede their nationality with one of heritage so instead of ‘Irish American’ you get ‘British’. ‘Italian’ where you were born or who your passport is issued by. A European doesn’t have to be pale. :/.

OK, that's true. My apologies.
