Anna I don't understand your post. Please clarify thank you.

hehe. Was just answering the question. Guess it was a bit too short and sweet!

At What Age Were You Diagnosed with PTSD?

I was 17 years old when I was first diagnosed with PTSD

:)

I heard mention of a theory about PTSD and increased frequency in middle age...Trauma can occur at any age, symptoms can manifest throughout.

I was diagnosed when I was 17. The symptoms though have been getting worse and coming back lately, since I hit my 30s. No idea whether it has to do with age? or whether it can become worse as you get older? Maybe someone has some info on that?

My former therapist suspect I had PTSD for long time but was been misdiagnosis with others that doesn't fit in for me. But was recently diagnosis with PTSD two years ago that match for me. So I may grew up with it for many years but been overlooked PTSD

I was officially diagnosed with PTSD at age 33. However, I've had all of the same symptoms since I was 5. I was misdiagnosed several times throughout the years, because even though I had all of the symptoms of PTSD, I had no memory of any trauma. I had repressed all knowledge of my trauma, which started when I was an infant/toddler and continued until I was 12. When the memories started resurfacing spontaneously when I was pregnant with my first child, a girl, I was finally diagnosed accurately.

I was diagnosed at age 40. I dissociated at my 40th birthday party and spent the evening crying hysterically! I did not know what a trigger was or dissociation so I was terrified and I couldn't stop the feelings.

I had spent 20 years trying to find out what was wrong with me. I was diagnosed with ME, anxiety and depression but I knew it was something else.

It was a total relief to finally realise it was CPTSD and I wasn't going mad!

I was diagnosed at age 49 after I received a bad review at work that was totally unjustified. It was the straw that broke the camel's back. I just couldn't deal with that and it still makes me angry. Good news is that even though I have bipolar and ADHD as well, I have never been as stable as I am now that I have had therapy for PTSD. I can now recognize triggers and understand and better control my dissociative "talents".

Although my symptoms were present even in my teens, my diagnosis came at around age 35, I think. I'm 49 now. Becoming a mother worsened my symptoms, mostly the obsessive thoughts I had of bad things happening to loved ones.
