Unfortunately both the US Navy and Merchant Marine "Un" Civilized itself a long time ago. All dry ships. Not a drop to drink. Nothing.

There is a "good" English tradition in the RN where they anchor out before pulling in off of a long deployment and get completely pissed. Good idea in my opinion. Why unleash a bunch of sex starved out of control sailors on society. In some cases it is just better to provide a shuttle directly to jail from the ship.

So a mate of mine says they are anchored out and a fire is reported in the engine room. The fire team is drunk. Many quantities of water later and still heavy smoke rolling around......a lone sober person discovers that some jackass has closed the damper on the stack. Open damper, problem solved. Needless to say.....the fire team was required to stay sober from then on. I mean why destroy a good tradition.

Of course being an Merkan, I am brainwashed to never drink on a ship. Which is the reason for my Arghhh. Every Arghhh should have a reason. "Arghh it be another dry ship"
