Backstabbing

Did you ever feel like backstabbing because you talked about the things your Vet did and that potrayed him in a bad light.

He doesn't trust you enough. Not backstabbing. Understandable when you expect trust from your loved one and when they don't, that can hurt you deeply.

Unless you were lying about what he did, then you weren't portraying him in a bad light... you were sharing bad behaviors.

Agree with Afo. If what you said was honest, it didn't cast a bad light on him. Fact is fact and readers will take it however they take it.

Some things aren't mine to tell.

Other things affect me, and as such are mine to greater or lesser degree. How others perceive those things? Positively, neutrally, or negatively? Isn't really my lookout most of the time.

Gacinu, I hear you and that resonates with me loud and clear. I understand intellectually what the other posters are saying (you're just being honest and venting). But emotionally, I do feel like I'm sort of throwing him under the bus and then I have to defend him later because people think he's not good enough for me.

They're a fount of wisdom and knowledge, but you also get "helpful" advice (sometimes it really is, of course) and judgement from posters based on a small fraction of what we are told of the relationship. Unfortunately, it is necessary to read everything here with a grain of salt. Take the thoughts you want, the ones that are helpful, uplifting, or can help you learn, and leave the rest.
